Goran Dragic

Post#1 » by howiezbt » Fri Jul 1, 2016 1:00 am

Billy King was on NBA TV and he said that the Heat may deal Dragic to clear up space to keep both Whiteside and Wade while getting another piece.

If, for example, Whiteside signs somewhere else, maybe the Heat ships Dragic and a pick to us for Noel?

If the Heat want to keep whiteside, maybe we could get Dragic for cheap (like Marshall and a future 2nd) to clear up space for the Heat.

I think Dragic would be a good PG with Simmons here, wouldn't mind if we could get him cheap

Pragmatically speaking, I'm sure the Heat value Dragic over an aging, declining Wade. I'm skeptical they trade him...especially for peanuts. Also, if Billy King thinks something is a good idea, then I'm sure Pat Riley won't do it

He's already 30 though. Philly is drafting a point guard next year. There aren't any good veteran options out there for them really. Everyone is really too old or not a good enough shooter.

When you have simmons you're gonna need a very specific type of pg. He's gotta be a good defender and a catch and shoot guy because simmons will have the ball a lot.

Other option is a really athletic westbrook type guy so you have a duel attacker. But you need a you g one without a lot of mileage already because you guys are years away. Next year is the loaded pg draft you've been waiting on

Dragic was pretty awful in a catch and shoot role for Miami. His contract numbers are bad and carries him through ages 31,32,33,34.

His contract for the next four years is as follows: $15,890,000, $17,000,000, $18,110,000, $19,220,000

I'd rather take my chances with Bledsoe. I'd certainly wouldn't move Noel for Dragic at this stage of their careers.

now that Whiteside got a max deal and Wade is going to re-sign. Maybe they need to off load Dragic for a 2nd.

I seriously doubt that. No one is coming to Miami to play with Dragic. We've already seen at least three NBA All Stars go to Miami to play with Wade.

The Mavs missed the playoffs without Brunson.

Jesus. We need to host a board seminar on player value.

He's on the decline and doesn't fit with the timeline of our core so I'm not too crazy about giving up much for him.

Wade played well last season didn't decline much at all. If anything Dragic showed more of a decline.

Actually, even at 34 I prefer the next two years of Wade (assuming he signs a two year deal) then the next four years of Dragic.

Yeah Wade had a great year but he has chronic knee issues. He avoided them for the most part last year, but no guarantees that's the case the next two years. From what I understood, Dragic's
struggles were related to playing with Wade. He played well in particular lineups without him.

I'd take 4 years of Dragic over 2 of Wade.

Okay but we have Simmons now. We need our guards to be effective off the ball. Dragic showed he couldn't do that last year. It's something he is going to have to be able to do as he continues to get older as well

I was speaking in terms of value for Miami not us. He was turning a corner after the all-star break playing with wade better. I'm sure given another offseason he will be fine next year for them.

With that said, if we somehow are given him without having to send out much value, I am all for it.

Dragic: just say, No.
“This may be one of the best jobs in basketball right now,” Colangelo said at a press conference introducing him as the new GM of the 76ers after Sam Hinkie resigned.

I think this could become a real possibility. They are going to get desperate to keep wade. Though Riley would probably want like grant or Cov. Which I could at least live with.

It doesn't make sense to cough up an asset for a diminishing piece like Dragic.
