Not bad.

I like it, and I love the idea of having a bench of Lou, Crawford, Speights, Sam, and Smith. That's a solid 2nd unit.

That kind of figures, but do you think this includes NO and T. Chandler? I think you mentioned this rumor last year and with Chandler's injury woes, I cannot imagine anyone wanting him either. Both of their salaries match up perfectly and perhaps NO needs to break things up after last year's implosion. In the end, even if Chandler is damaged goods, I'd rather have him not complaining on the IR than Dalembert.

What is the point of buying him out. He isn't TO. He doesn't hurt the team just with presence. If you are going to pay the remaining salary, you might as well keep him on the roster. He rebounds and block shots.
Temp using this account until I can get Westbrook36 back.

I agree, I wouldn't buy Sam out. Worst case scenario, he'll have some trade value after this season since he'll be an expiring.

I don't know about Kerr and crack. It appears to me that Kerr made the J-rich trade to try to solve the poor coaching problem early on in the year. I think he realized quite quickly that he needed Raja's D and intensitiy much more than J-rich's O, and to address the coach instead. It was/is a bad fit, and he might be into adjusting that now. AK makes more sense in PHX than J-Rich... Perhaps....

Crawford? I have mixed feelings about him having seen him this year with GS. definitley got handles, can slash a little, hit a 3, go off for 45 on any given night... no D, but you can mask it with the rest of the line-up. He seems like he's got the brains for princeton. might be the what we are looking for, might be a complete wash, worth the chance? hmmmmmmm.

ironically if GS keeps their line-up mostly in tact, what they need is some one like Dre Miller to balence all those egos, play perimeter D and run a smooth set, compete every night, seems perfect right? NO way he works with Nellie, especially with the lack of a 3 ball, but Nellie is an established one track minded idiot, so, don't matter.

Despite the fact that I like Anthony Parker's game and think he is a good fit for this team, I would stay away from him because he is 34 years old.

I think Korver is a good fit. Not a perfect fit, because I would prefer a quicker guy who is also an excellent 3 point shooter, but I don't see us getting a guy like that guy.

We wont over Miller over 2 years...the point guard we draft will be expected to take over by that time.

If miller wants more than 2 years..then i think a sign and trade happens

That's too bad. I wasn't in favor of hiring Jordan as most have read. Now that he's here, let him try to integrate the only legitimate center on the roster into his style of play. Why isn't there some pressure on management to hire an assistant coach for defense or to put pressure Jordan to make the best use of Sam? I also think it's somewhat spineless to put the blame on Sam for the team's shortcomings & that is what I think is happening.

Speaking of that ???....we may look into bringing Carney back.....keep hearing Parker, Korver, carney about the free agents

Is there any chance they can bring both back?

Maybe, Utah can do a sign and trade of Korver resigned at (5 or 6 mill/ yr) + filler for Dalembert, and use the some of the mid-level to sign Carney and the rest on someone else. (Not sure how much Carney would cost, I don't think it would be the full MLE)

We get rid of Dalembert, get Korver and Carney back. Pipe dream, most likely, but would something like that be possible?

Buying Sammy out makes no sense. He's not great, but he is an athletic big man...maybe EJ can turn him a bit. If you buy him out, you get nothing in return other than any cost savings to the franchise. Can't be used for other players...that would be very disappointing.

Oddly enough... I'm on board with a lot of the things written by SF.

Draft: I'll be fine with Lawson at #17. Almost all of the PGs have some serious questions about them. I'd prefer Holiday or Rubio but they aren't going to be there so Lawson will do.

MLE: I liked Korver (didn't love him) when he was here but we miss his shooting. I'm all for giving him the MLE to bring him back. It helps the team on the court and makes the Korver lovers happy as well. Win-win!

Trades: If there are no takers for Sammy, then so be it. As someone else said... keep him here until next year when he has an expiring deal. As for packaging him and Thad for an elite 2, I'm struggling to think of an elite two that would be available or if available, that I would want for Thad.

Michael Redd? No.
Jason Richardson? Not for Thad
Ben Gordon? Not for Thad
Richard Hamilton? No
Joe Johnson? N/A
Kevin Martin? N/A

Anyone got a name of an ELITE 2 that you would give Thad up for who might actually be available?

I wonder if the Kings would consider dealing Kevin Martin for Thad if Hardin ends up being the BPA when they pick.

TGP:

C'mon, bro...

If we are going to stay at 17, I guess that I would be OK with Lawson...but if you are going to use the MLE on Korver, then you have made your bet - Lawson is your PG of the future. He's small, doesn't have much of a rep as a defender, and you are banking on his ability to shoot from distance in the NBA. Could he turn out to be another Jameer Nelson? Maybe...but I'm not comfortable with just sitting there and hoping that the guy to falls to us at 17 is the most important addition that this team needs.

Korver would be a nice person to add, but how many minutes can you give him? How many minutes can you play him? He can probably play some minutes with Iggy at the 2 and Thad at the 4...but I don't see the addition of Lawson and Korver to the rotation leading to an improvement in our perimeter defense...do you? Korver would be nice to add, but given our needs at PG (particularly if Miller walks), I'm not feeling comfortable with putting all of our eggs in Lawson's basket - which is what you would be doing if you don't use the MLE on a PG.

I guess I am resigned to Sammy staying - unless some GM decides to be stupid.

I am still of the opinion that we need to be more aggressive to fill the PG slot...use Speights to make something happen...and - if his price comes down - use the MLE on Rasheed (maybe he'll give us a home-town discount)...I think he would be an upgrade over Sammy, and he would give us another shooter in the lineup.

That would be amazing for us. As much as I love Young, Martin is already one of the best scorers/shooters in the league. He and Iguodala at the 2/3 would be terrific.

Bebop... I don't think we're solving the the 2009-2010 Starting PG with the #17 pick OR the MLE. I don't know of a PG good enough that we could sign with the MLE that would make me satisfied unless Old Man River AKA Jason Kidd takes a 2 year deal.

If Miller leaves, a trade needs to happen.

i honestly see Lou Williams getting ALOT of run at the point this year...as bad as it sounds, the organization is still high on him IMO and they are gonna give him a fair shot this year at proving it.

and im all with TGP... #17 isnt being slated as our future franchise PG...Its just a young PG, that could poss give us minutes there and maybe become it.If not, o well not much money tied up into it and it was a #17 pick...tons of all stars arent picked there usually....
The MLE certainly isnt landing any proven NBA PG's that are gonna lead this franchise to a championship, so why would you lock up all that money on someone just because of their position, when you could add a solid piece like Korver that fills 2 needs...a backup perimeter player and a shooter(one of the leagues best)

Also about our MLE and trying to get a shooter...

Korver (the best shooter of the mentioned) is opting out of a contract that would net him roughly 5.5mil...so he'd probably want similar $$$ which would be about the full MLE.

Parker made 4.5 mil last year and is an URFA...would a similar deal net him?

Carney would make about 3mil this year on the last year of his rookie deal...would 3yr/9m pry him back to us?

id love for us to move Reggie Evans to Toronto for Kapono. Its such a perfect deal as the salaries are very close and they are both specialists...Kapono 3pt shooting and Evans Rebounding/Hustle but i dont kno if this would ever surface.

Im sold that i want 1 of Parker/Korver. Carney imo is a solid backup wing, but NOT a shooter. he shot 41% FG and 35% 3pt 75% FT this past season which isnt exactly amazing.

Korver is a career 40% 3pt shooter and a near 90% FT shooter, which we need as our team was HORRENDOUS at the line last year.

Parker is a career 41%3pt shooter, as well as a solid 83%FT shooter

i really hope we can net one of these guys...we need it

Yea we definitely need shooters but I'd be hesitant to give Korver the full MLE taking into account his liabilities on the defensive end. Anthony Parker is old so he'll likely come cheap and won't demand a lot of time so out of the two I'd prefer to get Anthony for like the LLE or something like that. Other FAs that could be a great fit here are CJ Watson and Von Wafer. Both have a good outside shot and are pretty young.
There's also Jarvis Hayes if you're looking for a cheap fix- He played for the Wizards from 03-07 btw so this is a realistic option.

I wouldn't mind trading Evans for Kapono at all. JK would be good giving us instant shooting off the bench.

I don't think Parker will be cheap, but he might sign a shorter deal (2 years?) I'd rather not sign anyone (KK) to a long MLE deal. Long MLE deals to bench players often come back to bite you.

Also, KK, Young and Iguodala are 3 wing players who ate at their best at SG. Iguodala can give you minutes at SG, but I don't think you could play Young/KK at SG/SF. They need a wing who is more SG than SF. Someone like Rush, but with actual NBA talent. That is why Parker is such a good fit.
