The SF1976 Draft Thread (Final Update On Page 90)

With the hiring and the Press Conference of new 76ers head coach Eddie Jordan, I'm wondering what exactly is their position on Thaddeus Young, do they like what they see in him? Are the Young trade discussions just as a "last resort" kind of thing? And what is their position on Samuel Dalembert?

What exactly do they expect out of him? I mean, the dude has a point. You need playing time to produce. You can't produce in 12-15 minutes, it doesn't work that way. There are guys that need minutes.

Allen Iverson needs minutes in order to produce, so does a Kyle Korver and guys like those need time to produce.

I mean, the only guy who can produce in 15 minutes may be LeBron James and he's a destined Haller.

Otherwise, what is their position on the team? What do they feel like they need. It's a dead beaten horse we need shooters. But what kind of shooters are they looking for?

Me personally, I think we need to continue to build the roster as is. I think we have an Elton Brand,
we have an Iggy, we have a Young. And we have a Speights, a Lou, a Smith off the bench.

I think we need

-A PG
-A Back-up Wing
-Maybe a back-up 5.

Love this... the thread is titled "The Official SF1976 Off-Season Thread," yet it starts off asking a question about Thad Young, then takes a sharp turn to Samuel Dalembert, followed by random comparisons to Iverson, Korver, and Lebron James... only to be wrapped up with questions/personal opinions regarding team needs... none of which having any relevance to any SF1976 update.

Ultimately, it's a message board so I don't care but I tried my best to contact SF1976 and ask some questions. I mainly stated that I agree with Samuel Dalembert. Players need minutes to perform. You don't just get a set of minutes and go "here".

Dedicated, notwithstanding the ribbing you are taking, if you can actually get Sixerfan to post some updates within this thread, it will be the hottest one on the board. I certainly will be checking back often if you can.

Officially, SF1976 will probably won't make another appearance on this board until we're closer to the draft. He seems to only stop by when things are happening in the front office and I doubt there will be any gossip for the next three weeks.

I will post here if the hot pictures continue.. :D

lets see how the friday workouts go..but we are real high on Ty Lawson..and I truly get the feeling Maynor and him are 1 and 1a. I dont see us moving up. With Rush,Donyell,Theo etc all free agents...we may get a 2nd rounder to groom since we have some roster space.

its hard projecting miller because draft is before free agency..so me thinks it has to be a point guard at 17.

They want to move dalembert....however they can...if they cant..he wont play much.....Speights and Smith will be in the rotation....

Said it yesterday in another thread...this is their plan

1) Draft Lawson or Maynor
2) Resign Miller
3) Use the MLE on Anthony Parker or Korver
4) Trade Dalembert

Lou or Green could get moved......if the deal made sense...but Lou is a BYC til August I think.

Boston offered us tony allen and Jr Giddens for Green verbally...not sure what that does for us. Probably nothing.

Interesting. That's the first time I've heard ANY team express some interest in Green.

Why not pull the damn trigger, Green is WORTHLES. If Boston gives us a 6'6 guy that can defend in Allen, it's a steal! Sometimes I wish I could talk to Stefanski.

wow id do that Tony Allen/Giddens deal for Green in a heart beat.

Tony Allen is a good athlete and solid defender at the 2. Hes got a decent mid range jumper and can knock down the 3 occasionally. and Giddens is a big 2/3 thats an awesome athlete. He could make a few posters in our uptempo system

i truly hope this is a somewhat true deal in the making

Tony Allen has had two serious knee injuries, was involved in some sort of aggravated assault (innocent) but apparently received death threats because of it, & was re-signed since Boston had his Bird rights & apparently no other cap space. He still has one year left on his contract. This also must have been last year when Boston was attempting to bolster it's roster. I can see Boston making the offer & I understand Philly rejecting it since Green played so much last year. The failure to make a trade does seem short-sighted since Allen's contract is a year shorter than Green's.
