Germany doesn't really need a poacher for the national team. We got enough finishing from Podolski, Müller, perhaps Özil and Schweinsteiger. We could use a smart, hardworking guy, who, just like Klose, opens space and drags defenders across the box. Ivicia Olic would be great...
I don't like Mario Gomez. Patrick Helmes can take his spot if he finally makes it through a season without getting injured. For the more distant future, Mlapa and Sukuata-Pasu look like the best talents. In 2012/2014, I guess I'd start Podolski, Özil, Kroos and Müller and play 4-6-0, with Schweinsteiger and Ballack/Rolfes/Khedira behind them.

This, this and more this. I like both of the Leverkusener up top. As for your post I agree that we don't need pure poacher, but it's very important that whoever is up top is great at timing his runs, willing to drop deep to draw defenders out of position, be able to play a quick pass and when the chance presents itself bury the oppurtunities. This is why I loved Miro's play, he was forcing defenses to pay attention to him with his ruthlessness and using that to make room for the kids with his work rate. If Helmes is ever healthy he's that type of striker which is why I'd like to see him take the spot, if he's unable I'd agree with your 4-6-0 although I would use Mueller slightly more advanced as a false nine, kinda more like Bayern uses him.

I also have liked Keissling everytime I've seen him play. Now not watching him every week I might be wrong about him but he seems to have a good touch and makes good passes to go with that massive frame and solid athleticism. Plus the kid works hard and has a porn stache, win.

Foye wrote:It's not official but I read somewhere yesterday that he has definitely decided on Schalke.

In all honesty all our strikers suck at the moment. Klose, Gomez, Kießling, Helmes, Cacau and Kuranyi neither of them is a special player. :dontknow:

I think Klose was special, he's ruthless in front of net and has a great feel for the game which let him deliver those perfectly timed runs that force defenders to focus on him. Unfortunately he's done and unless Kiessling or Helmes can take over I don't think we have a good replacement.

Nobody paid Wolfsburg so he remains there. What's the big deal? :dontknow:

Just desires to be somewhere else. But anyways looks like the deal isn't going through at all for sure now since Dzeko said his goal will be to score 30+ goals this season. So what you do guys think can he do it? He can close before....

I don't think he can do any better than the 08/09 season. :dontknow:

To be fair Wolfsburg is not a club with a great history so being one of their best players of all-time does not mean so much.

 As Union fan I shouldn't be laughing, but it has shocked the **** out of me how Wolfsburg actually became a competent organization the year I stop going back to germany. Felix Magath really is a beast at turning teams around.

By the way, Louis van Gaal has expressed interest in Edin Dzeko yesterday.

Be aware that Munich's president Uli Hoeneß is the brother of Wolfsburg's manager Dieter Hoeneß. I guess if van Gaal really wants Edin Dzeko they'll figure out how to deal him to Munich.

How about a Dzeko-Gomez swap?

I guess that probably does not go through becomes Gomez likely won't want to move to Wolfsburg.

What's the deal with Gomez? he's awful with Germany and is nothing special with Munich. He was one of the top scorers with Stuttgart, what happen to him?

He struggles when he's not the main option of the team. He always missed a ton of chances but few people noticed it in his Stuttgart days because he was getting a lot more shots on goal back then and more of them went in.
I never liked Gomez he's too snotty-nosed for me. I don't like that he always has to do his hair on the pitch.

And of course then there is that problem that he contributes little to nothing to the flow of his teams offense. All he will do is stand around in the penalty area and hope for a ball to get to him. He does not combinate with his teammates at all. If he does it mostly ends up in losing the ball or making a dangerous situation in front of the goal undangerous because his technique is so laughably bad. Overall, just a trash signing by Bayern Munich and he'll never be successful there unless he learns that he must contribute to the flow of the offense in order to get himself a starting job.

You could've just said that it's because he's not that good, he's big, strong and runs well, but skill wise, he's a dud, wastes chances left and right laughably, doesn't have the touch or skill to drop back and make passes, overall is just useless unless you need someone to bounce the ball into net off of.

Yah it was a horrible signing for bayern, hope they can flip him for a semi decent CB. Can't stand Demicheles, dude give's up so many goals. He should never have a starting job at a club like Munich. How long is Ribery's new deal, so glad they kept him.

5 years. Martin Demichelis could be pure world class. 2 years ago Demichelis was a hell of a centre back. I don't know why but he has settled for having one catastrophal error every game now.

Raul has joined Schalke :o

Even if he is 33, I am very excited. Bona fide world stars, even in their twilight, are so fun to see. Let's see if he is going to shine like Robben, be an ok player like Van Nistelrooy or suck like Rafael Martin Vazquez.

And BTW, Gomez is a superb striker, but needs a system that focuses on him, and solely him. The super tactical Van Gaal offense is MENTALLY too quick for him, and playing along side hi-soccer-IQ guys like Müller and Olic brutally exposes this.

I don't know how Bayern Munich win with Demichelis. He looks bad with Bayern and Argentina.

Their offense is so good that they always score at least one goal more than Martin Demichelis produces against on the defensive end. :D

Overall, Demichelis sucked badly midway through the season (making a bad error in almost every game) but at the end of the season he was solid.

BTW. it looks like Bayern Munich might be the front runner in the race for Edin Dzeko now.
And Sami Khedira will go to Real Madrid.

That would be unfortunate. Khedira's a good young player but he's not good enough to get enough PT at Real to continue to progress, although that would open the door for Kroos to take the second central mid spot.

Awsome! Yah lol, I barley watch any games, but every time I see him play he gives up a goal. the two goals Milito scored were entirely his fault.

Rather Munich go after a strong CB, then another goal scorer. The offense is already great, just got to improve the 2 cb's and get a younger goalie.
