My dad just told me about how Iran beat Uzbekistan in Uzbekistan while playing terrible soccer and the refs not counting a goal for Uzbekistan that should have counted as the ball was in the goal when the goalie caught , and Iran scoring their goal in the 93rd minute...I don't know if anyone caught the game. as an Iranian I'm happy, but it makes you wonder if camera technology should be used for goals.

I can't believe New Zealand came 3rd in the OFC Nations Cup.

Tahiti will be representing the area in the 2013 FIFA Confederations Cup.

The final four teams move on to the last round of qualifying.

I am hoping for big wins from both New Zealand and Australia.

Would be nice to see them both go through to represent that part of the world.

I'm hoping South Korea, Japan and Australia make it to the World Cup. I don't care who the last team is.

Big win for New Zealand. 2-1 over New Caledonia.

Tommy Smith is the toast of New Zealand after his dramatic 94th-minute goal sent the All Whites through to a play-off for a place at the 2014 FIFA World Cup Brazilâ„¢.

The Ipswich Town defender’s injury-time winner secured a 2-1 victory over New Caledonia in Dunedin’s Foryth Barr Stadium, which guarantees his team top spot in Oceania with a game to spare.

It had seemed for much of the second half that Ricki Herbert’s side would be taken to a final day of continental qualifying on Tuesday after Cesar Lolohea’s 56th-minute goal cancelled out an early opener from Chris Killen. That would have left New Zealand needing a draw from their trip to the Solomon Islands on Tuesday to be certain of topping the section.

However, with the final seconds ticking down, Smith popped up to claim his moment of glory and edge the Kiwis a step closer towards Brazil 2014. They now face a play-off against an as yet undetermined opponent from the CONCACAF region.

Took until the 94th minute.

I watched the Nigeria-Kenya game. The Nigerians clearly had their minds on a different match. Fortunately they tied it in injury time (final score 1-1); otherwise, a loss to Kenya would have been terrible.

they need to combine ofc with afc and concacaf with conmebol. beating new caledonia and panama shouldnt be enough to qualify for world cup.

Agreed on the OFC/AFC merger. Honestly, if the OFC teams can't get past the AFC teams, then they don't deserve to advance to the World Cup.

But I'm kind of iffy about the CONCACAF/CONMEBOL one. I think the competition for CONCACAF And CONMEBOL (individually) are enough, no?

Conmebol is tough enough as it is. The poor concacaf teams would struggle to make it. Only Mexico and U.S could survive.

conmebol is fine obviously but concacaf has only 2 two teams that consistently have quality squads. i think some uefa groups are tougher than hexagon and only 2 in a group has a chance to qualify while 4 has a chance in concacaf.

also playing in conmebol would prepare mexico and u.s better for the world cup imo

not necessarily a bad thing, usually there is a team or two from conmebol that doesnt make it but better than concacaf team that make it.

It could be good for football, but it would be bad for FIFA who would want the US in the tournament. US will probably qualify regardless of system change, but there's no need to risk it. I bet they take away CAF's or even UEFA's spot before they even look at CONCACAF or AFC.

I think the u.s would not make it this year. It would be 8 teams from S.America and Mexico. I think people would complaint about lack of parity
