Re: Official Tottenham Hotspur Thread
We've done good business this offseason, and I think Dier will be the signing of the season, either him or Robertson at Hull.
The performances of Chadli and Lamela are pleasing and Pochettino has looked the part of a big club manager, much like Martinez did last season with Everton.
Fazio is a big signing for 8 imo, Sevilla are a quality outfit and he was the heart of their success last season.

I think both on loan would be nice, though I was never a huge fan of Song's. Not sure why Man U would loan us Welbeck rather than keeping him. Maybe Van Gaal is actually an idiot, who knows.

Yeah, baby.
Not sure why we don't just sign him outright, but i'll take it.

We signed this guy apparently. He's a DM, probably means one of ours is off (Sandro? )

Re: Official Tottenham Hotspur Thread
I'm watching Montpellier's match against Marseille from two weeks ago now. Let's see what he's like.
Edit: This is useless. There is a midfielder playing well behind him. I'm gonna try to find another one.
He has serious defensive initiative and surprising agility and skill on the ball, though.

Re: Official Tottenham Hotspur Thread
Well, I guess Dier came crashing back down to earth.
Not sure why Poch took out Eriksen TBH. Him and Adebayor were doing well in attack. And we all know how the Townsend sub immediate backfired. At this point it's clear Andros is not a world beater, so why play him inverted in a tight match with Adebayor available to finish crosses? Bizarre to me.
Also, I really hope th Bentaleb experiment ends once one of Moussa Sandro or Paulinho are match fit. Him and Capoue on d is overkill. And I easily prefer etienne.

Re: Official Tottenham Hotspur Thread
Looks like we sold or loaned a handful of players and ended up with a backup LB, a starting-ish CB, a backup CB/RB, a backup RB that comes over in January, a backup CDM and a backup goalie that isn't enrolled for Europa league yet.

Re: Official Tottenham Hotspur Thread
Fazio and Stambouli will make or break both our summer and our season, in my opinion. If they come off, they could fix most of our issues at once and allow an actual run at 4th place. We'll see.
At some point, we'll also have to face facts and upgrade the 4th attacking spot.

Re: Official Tottenham Hotspur Thread
I see 0 chance at us finishing 4th. Everyone has improved the past couple seasons and we've mis-stepped time after time. Heck, we even got lazy when we had Bale and didn't build a good enough team around him.
It's just frustrating because I'm seeing all these huge deals going down for players we could've bought if we hadn't spent 30+ million pounds on Soldado+Capoop.

Re: Official Tottenham Hotspur Thread
I don't think it's an issue of money. Obviously, we can't keep up with the big boys, but we were willing to spend on Musacchio, Schneiderlin, and Rodriguez or Welbeck. That would have been £60m.
The real problem is we just can't seem to land the players we prefer for one reason or another - Club refusing to sell, third-party complications, player choosing to go elsewhere - You name it, we've faced it.
At least we appear to have identified our weaknesses correctly this window. And we've got ourselves a real keeper in Dier.
Looking back, i am most upset about missing out on Schneiderlin. I spent the whole summer saying the money was too much, then i started watching him intently once the season started, and he is pretty **** brilliant.

Btw, we've all witnessed how Musacchio and Schneiderlin turned into Fazio and Stambouli.
Just stating for the record. Let's keep that in mind the next time AVB's But i didn't want those players! talk resurfaces.

Levy has **** the bed with most of his transfer dealings since the Bale deal.

Re: Official Tottenham Hotspur Thread
I don't have a problem with our transfer dealings this summer, with the exception of Sandro leaving for pennies. I'm not sure what people were expecting, honestly. Poch said there wouldn't be any major overhauls and there wasn't, we addressed some areas of need and that was all. I'm fine with that, we're not suddenly going to get relegated because one of our rivals bought a mediocre English striker and ignored their glaring need for a CB. With the exception of Chelsea and City, all of our rivals have problems too.

Yeah, losing MS was hard, especially after the fit he threw. I think (hope) Fazio can come in and take Kaboul's spot, he has been bad. Not expecting much from Stambouli, so we'll see.

Re: Official Tottenham Hotspur Thread
I just think we should've gotten at least one starter. We had very clear holes in our lineup and decided to ignore them, opting for depth instead. Love teh focus on defense TBH, but I wish we would have signed a starting quality LB that doesn't play like a **** left forward. Could somebody post the formation we used last match? NBC never shows it on my end. I think it was a 4-2-3-1 with Eriksen playing the 10, but I'm not certain since Lamela drifts (in a good way) and Eriksen is all over.
