Its not about the individuals but the collective brute force we have up front that should worry you and every other PL team.

Daniel Sturridge and Glen Johnson Set to Return to Full Liverpool Training

Liverpool duo Daniel Sturridge and Glen Johnson are both on the verge of returning to full training after respective injuries but defender Jon Flanagan faces a length spell out after knee surgery.

Sturridge has been nursing a thigh injury, which he picked up on international duty and forced him to miss both the Premier League defeat to Aston Villa and the Champions League opener against Ludogorets Razgrad, while Johnson has been out since August with a knee problem.

Coupled with the confirmation of Martin Skrtel's recent return to training, Rodgers said both players will train with the Liverpool first team this weekend.

"Martin Skrtel is back training with the team, which is great news for us," he added. "Glen Johnson should be back training over the course of the weekend.

"Daniel Sturridge should hopefully be back training at some point next week."

The England and Liverpool striker was pictured earlier this week training alone at the club's Melwood training ground but is ready to ramp up his return ahead of the Merseyside derby against Everton on 27 September.

However, the positive news regarding the trio has been offset by the loss of Flanagan for "a few months" following surgery on a knee injury picked up in pre-season.

Although Liverpool have signed Javier Manquillo and Alberto Moreno, Flanagan played an influential role last season but his progress is set to be halted until at least the new year.

"Young Jon Flanagan, unfortunately, has just had an operation that will probably have him out for a few months - which is disappointing," the manager told Liverpoolfc.com at Melwood.

"Joe Allen is still out and he'll be out for a few weeks yet."

Is Liverpool good enough to get into the top four and stay there?

Nobody know what is happening now. We should wait until transfer market is open. Some Italian newspapers' saying Pjanić is on his way out from Roma to possibly join Liverpool.

So how are you guys feeling about Rodgers after his third season? Good? Bad? Last season some people were anointing him as the next Shankly.

Given the ups and downs and the high level of transfer activity, it's still difficult to judge his tenure. He consistently comes off as the sort of person i would remove from consideration for a job after a 10 minute chat. Yet one could build a credible argument that he has overachieved.

He's a good manager although he shouldn't have any say in transfers and he should be banned from speaking to the media when things are going wrong.

I'd sack him for a whiff of Monchi/Emery though. In an instant.

I really like Ings, was hoping that Spurs would sign him.

Should be a nice addition for Liverpool.

I hope you're right cause I'm less optimistic. I don't see him making a major impact. We actually just need him to be better than the 3-headed monster of Lambert, Borini, Balotelli. If he gets like 5 to 10 goals then its a success and I stand corrected.

The Guardian: Southampton set to sign Cédric Soares from Sporting Lisbon for £3.6m

I'll put this up here too. I guess that paves the way for Clyne to be sold now. Makes sense. His deal only has a year left. Hopefully its for Liverpool cause the RB rotation really hasn't been getting it done.

Man we're busy! LFC have signed Firmino for £21M with add-ons rising to a potential £29M.

Never seen the guy, but he's in the Brazil team and Coutinho likes him so he has to be pretty good.

Sterling-Firmino comparison.

In other news, the back 3 experiment is looking like its over. Nathaniel Clyne is now LFC's new right back.

Ew, the Benteke fit is horrifying. He's a much better version of Carroll. Doesn't suit guys like Coutinho and Firmino to play with that guy at all. If we've just bought Firmino then I have to believe we're smart enough to have a better fit planned and that these Benteke rumours are unsubstantiated. Good strikers will know that playing in front of Coutinho and Firmino is guaranteed goals. Higuain's already making noises. Link. 'Higuain demands move to Liverpool' is all over the place.

In other news, Clyne is seen leaving Liverpool hospital. Must be medical related. Link. And remember how Barcelona have that transfer ban? The kid that got them that ban is leaving them for Liverpool's youth academy. Link.
