I am nervous... I just saw Juve's possible line up for Sat. game vs Chievo and it has Obgonna and Bonucci as central defenders... :banghead:

Chiellini is suspended for the next two games following the elbow @ Pjanic during Roma - Juve of last season.

what a frikkin disgrace. Sure they had the toughest draw but the three goals Athletic scored ( though I woulda called one offsides) were embarrassing.

Now with Roma in Bayern/City's group, it is hard to imagine Serie A will have more than one team in the knockout stage of CL (assuming Juve doesn't choke again)

yea Chiellini suspended and Barzagli out with a minor injury. Based off last season Ogbonna has proved to be a bust, but I have actually grown comfortable with Bonucci back there.

For the first time ever I am admitting that I'm not too confident in Chiellini anymore. He's always had the world's worst dribbling/first touch, but that never stopped him from being a world class CB. However he probably isn't what he used to be ... he was once the guy who could shut down Ibra like it was his job.
After last season I have no confidence that our center backs can compete in Europe.

It sucks that Pirlo is injured too but we have 3 other world class center mids. I'm curious to see how Pereyra will turn out, and Romulo seems like a solid addition. The most surprising thing of the probable starting lineup (if you also checked gazzetta's) is that Coman may start

Allegri opts to go with 3 in the back. 3-5-1-1 ... Coman behind Tevez.

Forza Juve !!!!!!

halftime edit:
beautiful first half from Juve. Caceres goal after 5 mins; Tevez, Vidal, Caceres all hit woodwork.
complete domination and a great performance by COMAN. He only turned 18 in June, superstar in the making.

Roma have quality midfielder after quality midfielder. Having said that, they haven't looked like a team that can outdo Bayern or City tonight.

Shame Destro and Ucan aren't involved.

Montella looks like a mob boss.

wow, Coman is a beast, he played like a veteran and seemed very confident out there. what a steal from PSG at basically zero tranfer fee... this guy is going to be worth A LOT after this season if he continues like this.

granted i missed the game but this is not what roma will look like, we were missing 3 starters and were essentially playing a brand new defense. Maicon-Manolas-Castan-Cole will look much better than this, i will cry if we play astori against a team like city or bayern. still hope we can buy another CB so we can assure that doesnt happen. also i dont think Manolas was fit as he was subbed off early, i expect the defense to improve tremendously as they play together more when Castan is fit. Maicons presence changes things a lot as Rudi's system is very dependent on the fullbacks.

whats crazy is how good Nainggolan is, we dont skip much of a beat missing Strootman with him there.

sad i missed the game but good result against a solid fiorentina squad.

I would love to see it but even at full strength there's no reason to believe Roma can advance out of a group with City and Bayern. Looking at their roster they actually have more CL experience than I first thought with: Maicon, Cole, Totti, De Rossi, Pjanic, and Gervinho. Next year could be their year to make some noise.

so who has the better midfield?

Juve: Pirlo, Pogba, Vidal, Marchisio, Asamoah, Coman, Romulo, Pereyra

Roma: De Rossi, Pjanic, Nainggolan, Strootman, Florenzi, Iturbe, Ucan, Keita

I think on paper both have some of the best there is on european level. hope it translates also in CL.

Conte's first selections for gli Azzurri:

Buffon, Padelli, Perin e Sirigu;

Astori, Bonucci, Chiellini, De Sciglio, Paletta e Ranocchia;

Candreva, Darmian, De Rossi, Florenzi, Giaccherini, Maggio, Marchisio, Parolo, Pasqual, Poli, Verratti;

Destro, El Shaarawy, Giovinco, Immobile, Osvaldo e Zaza.

Even without Pirlo/Montolivo it is a solid midfield...
I have faith that Destro/Immobile/El Sha can develop into national team players. We really need it.
and what is Giovinco doing there? he didn't even play him at Juve lol

As for Balo, I think it'd be best if he takes a break from the national team. Let us forget about him for a little while. The amount of pressure on him is absurd

you forgot Paredes who i think is quite underrated, lots of potential there.

honestly its crazy how good both of the midfield are, they have star power, creativity, a tactician, and brute force. easily the strongest parts of each team, and i would argue two of the best midfields in europe. i think if we had been able to snag Rabiot i wouldve leaned towards ours, but Juve having the best player in Vidal makes them a bit stronger i think.
