Holy ****. Giroud came in for 15 minutes and had big time screw ups about 9, 10 times. WOW.

Something about how Germany can't win if Lahm doesn't play in midfield, was it? :D

2 more wins, how does that sound?

Especially considering how we have played so far.

France had their chances, they'll look back at this game and regret not capitalizing on a couple golden oppertunites. Congrats to Germany, 4 straight semi appearances....that's one hell of a feat.

Germany is the first team ever to reach four straight World Cup semifinals.

Germany will make its 12th World Cup semifinal appearance; no other country has more than 7 (BRA, ITA).

Impressive.

Jordan never fully understood basketball. He had the lowest basketball IQ of any NBA "superstar" in history.

As long as we win I'm cool with it.

Of course that's all matters but man this football makes me throw up. If Colombia passes Brazil and semi then they would rip you guys off in the final.

Impossible.

What? That's completely wrong, usually we just don't see eye to eye when we disagree, but here I think you're just 100% wrong.

It is 100% correct. Read the game thread to see our reactions. Or just watch the game again up to his position change. He was also poor defensively after he moved and was at fault for Algeria's goal, fwiw.

Edit: How would a team with full-backs who neither can nor dare attack, and a holder who is apparently positionally disciplined, concede so many counters anyway?

No offense to you and the regulars who know i respect their opinions, but a lot of posts about lahm have come from posters like rasho who've been pretty consistently wrong on the topic. That game was the perfect illustration of what goes wrong with schweini-sami if we can't get an early goal. In the first half we got torn up by long balls to the flanks, because our "FBs" were playing very high up the pitch, like in the second half against ghana when they to shredded us with quick long diagonals, and with balls over the top, because Per was atrocious that first half and Boateng took a good 30 minutes to start helping Neuer bail us out.

This problem in defense was exacerbated by the problem up front of Mueller having to somehow press the entire Algerian front 4 by himself. At half time Jogi actually made two very good chances, he brought Schurrle on for Gotze to work the right channel and force the algerian LB back, and he told his "FBs" to stop going forward and to cheat back defensively instead, like they had against portugal. This precipitated the only really strong period of the game we had were for 25 minutes we didn't give the algerians any room to break into and where able to establish more and more pressure. During this time Lahm prevented us from losing possession in place the algerians could try to counter from numerous times, darting the ball back into the danger area for our creatives to create.

After the injury and lahm went back to RB is when we started giving them chances again and those chance came through the middle and over Lahm's flank.

Anyways, still holding breath after that game, thank god for Hummels and I pray Jogi leaves Boa at CB next to him from now until both retire from international play, with Hummels not being at his sexiest we lose today. Also we desperately need the first goal, with that and schweini's lacking fitness he did a much better job of sitting in front of the back 4 than he usually does, especially when we need to score and he sees the chance to be the hero. Hopefully Luiz just gifts us the 1-0 early so we can roll on.

Schuerle should have made at least one. Two 100%s.

But glad we went through.

Benzema left something to be desired IMO.

Your scenario was literally impossible. Colombia and Germany can't meet in the final.

You're the last person to give people crap about their perdictions, btw.
