Could probably do like a knockout stage where we can set a bracket

Or 4 groups of 5, top 2 goes through then the 3rd placed team on the group have to face each other to qualify for the knockout stages.

Just throwing stuff up in the air here

Do a rough power ranking and pull from pots for the groups

It is a pity, but I have to pass. I wouldn't be reliable due to some changes in business and personal life atm.

I am sure I will enjoy to read your inputs and ideas and may give some comments as well.

How about this?

- 5 groups of 4.
- Group winners advance.
- Poll among second placed teams to determine 3 more Quarter-finalists.
- Possibly allow draws during Group Stage in order to increase variety of final standings.
- Would ensure minimum of 3 & maximum of 6 matches for each participant.

Regarding the draft, personally, i would enjoy having some alternates to the starting 11.

Sitting it out again so I can throw shade at all y'all's teams. If Busi doesn't go Top 5 this thing is a joke. LOL!

If treiz and Turco each gets a team and Boognish joins, we should be only a couple away from a 24-team game. We can then do whatever UEFA's doing for the next Euro.

edit: actually starting from R16 will take too much time. 4 groups of 6 teams each, pick best 2 from each group, then go straight to QF?

That would actually mean one extra match, no?

4 threads (w/ choose-best-two-out-of-six polls) for the group stage, which means you could be one-and-done very quickly :lol:
4 for QF's
2 for SF's
1 for Final

I dunno about others, but I didn't find the judging part of the draft to be all that fun anyway. For me it was all about drafting

I'd rather we didn't do that because it eliminates head-to-head match-ups in the Group Stage but i'll go along with what the people want.

if we do reach 24, and you want to expedite things, we could either have;

- 6 groups of 4 and move straight to QFs by voting on the best 2 second placed teams

or;

- 8 groups of 3. More threads i suppose, but this would mean a minimum of 2 & maximum of 5 matches for each participant.

With 20 signed up, why not just do 4 groups of 5, with the top 2 from each group advancing? Then we can randomly decide the draw for those final 8 and go from there...

Yeah, that works just fine. Especially if people are committed to sticking around for 4-7 matches.

20 works too. Thought there may be more who would like to join. I'll share a team with Boognish if we decide on 20.

Just posted the discussion thread. I am going to close the sign-up thread and cap it at 20 teams so that we can get this started while the iron is hot.
