+ Dortmund's officials have already made it clear they won't let him go for anything lower than € 40 M (= £ 33M)

Palace going all out to sign Batshuayi, among others. Big fees reported to have been offered (£32m!).

Is he really that good? He looked fairly bright against Hungary but it was just a run out when they were already 2-0 up.

Holy moley, just saw this. Nearly £50m! Almost worth as much as Sterling. Chinese league is beginning to flex its muscles financially, and I expect more big signings of upper mid-tier players to come.

Also, it's good to see you here, Ted. Hope you're doing well. :D

Looks like the Dortmund will sell the Armenian for 43 mil. €'s to Manchester United with just one year left on his deal.

Again, I don't think any club in Europe ever got more than that for a player with only one year left on his contract but soon enough we are gonna hear comments again that Dortmund are terrible negotiators and stupid to sell him for less than 50 mil.

i think bigger problem is that dortmund is forced to sell its players instead of getting them to sign extensions. they would've been a top 3 team in europe if they kept all the expiring players, but obviously their players dont think they have a shot at breaking down bayern's monopoly and/or they dont think dortmund has enough stature for them to continue their careers.

The problem is easy to identify. Dortmund don't have the spending power to compete with the big clubs. Armenian, Hummels and Gündogan will all make double the amount of money they make in Dortmund at worst.

sure they dont the money some bigger clubs do but they are still a cl team with enough money to give satisfactory wages. leicester and tottenham are able to fend off bigger clubs that are offering better wages and they are just starting to get cl money. despite the interest from richer clubs, atletico usually able to sign their players long enough contracts where it takes a fortune to sign one of their players. there is no reason for dortmund not to create an atmosphere where only top money gets their players, yet somehow each time players cant wait to exit the club.

I think the last spot in EPL actually makes about twice the tv revenue Dortmund makes. A club like Tottenham makes probably about 3 times as much as Dortmund does. That's a significant advantage. That's not even considering that Leicester (and a lot of other English clubs, too) is owned by a billionaire owner yet.

Dortmund have done a good job of increasing the salaries to a good level but reality is you are not going to build a financial powerhouse over night.

Also it's not like Dortmund players are desperate to get out of Dortmund. Hummels has been 7 years with Dortmund. Gündogan 5 years. Atletico hasn't been able to keep their superstars for much longer than that either. Turan 5 years, Falcao was gone after 2 years....Griezmann will be gone soon, too. Only exception is maybe Koke who seems a diehard Atletico fan himself.

The problem is clearly that players (starting with the Bosman case) have too much leverage these days and a lot of them will choose to go to those clubs who pay the most money...even if they may already be multi millionaires.

tottenham still fending off teams that have much bigger financial power, it doesnt matter they make more than dortmund because it is all relative.

atletico got 60 million for falcao and 40 million for arda, at no point either of them said **** you we are leaving whether you like it or not, both transactions were results of massive offers. look at it this way, in comparison dortmund got 25 million total for two comparable players in lewandowski and gundogan. ballpark that's 75 million just lost on two players that were in similar statures to falcao and arda. add hummels, goetze, kagawa, sahin who all forced their way out below market value at the time and now mkh is on his way out in similar conditions, there is certainly something very wrong with how dortmund conducts business and/or treats players. as you can see from atletico examples, when players love and respect their clubs they dont get in the way of their clubs earning maximum value even when they leave for greener pastures.

What wages are these players on in Dortmund?

Leicester had no-one above £50,000 a week last season and most on less. In the last few months we've had to offer £100K to Vardy and I'd imagine the same for Mahrez and Kanté.

Yeah, but you have a better negotiation basis if you make >100 mil. a year in tv revenue instead of 40-45 mil.

Also you have to consider that Tottenham is obviously located in London and Atletico in Madrid while Dortmund is located in the Ruhrpott area which is not exactly known as a beautiful place to live. In fact, it's considered ugly by most Germans.

Back when Sahin or Kagawa transfered Dortmund had far less leverage than they have today. So I'd say the situation is already much improved and will continue to improve. At least they are getting good sums for their best players now.

Apparantly Batshuayi doens't want to go play for Palace. He wants something bigger than playing against relegation.
He prefers Spurs, but Juventus and Chelsea are also considering a move.

In other Belgian news:
- Mats Sels (goalkeeper AA Gent) would go play for Newcastle (6,6M euro).
- Stefano Okaka (striker Anderlecht) would go to China (15M euro)
- Meunier (rightback club Brugge) could go to PSG (6M euro)

We sold Jose Rodriguez to Mainzer 05 for 2.5 million euro.

It's unbelievable. That guy is beyond useless. It's like Straight trade LeBron vs javale mcgee.

Thank you Mainzer 05. You proved one more time that you have no clue about football.

We'll see. He's only 21 and we will develop him. Wouldnt surprise me if he becomes a solid player. Probably Gala was just too incompetent to develop him.

And as I said even if he busts we'll consider it as a donation for a financially less fortunate club.

Lol it's unfortunate that Gala's C team caliber player goes to Mainzer 05 as one of the most expensive signing in Mainzer 05 history. LOL.

Hopefully our garbage player will be your asset man. So you guys keep coming and buying our garbage players who are not good enough to play for Gala for ridiculous prices :)

Maybe with the help of Jose, mainzer will get past greek division 1 relegation zone team to qualify for europa league.

Nolito to City, surprised how under the wraps this was kept during the tournament.

Gayle moves to Newcastle too
