I think the EPL is actually a perfect place for talented young players. It's a league that encourages offensive development and an attacking playing style. If the kid's got talent, he'll develop just fine.

About Lucas Silva, he is a very good player.
Even when he is not playing well, he is very important for Cruzeiro.
He can pass the ball very well, he is very smart and he is a good defender (but should be even better with time).
He is a lot better than Cassemiro.

Seemed like United and Arsenal were in for him as well but Carlo talked about him in a presser, doubt he'd have done that unless a deal was just about done. We've also announced the signing of a young Spanish talent in midfield, Marcos Asensio, who Barcelona were also in for but wanted to spread out payment for. I'm assuming he'll be loaned to another Liga BBVA side next year for development because our midfield is already fairly stacked.
We've got great veterans (Modric, Khedira), incredible young talent (Kroos, Isco, James), and slightly less impressive players with potential (Illarramendi, Medran, Casemiro). Nice to see us make reinforcing moves for the future.

I wonder if City will try to make a move to help patch up Aguero's loss.

i dont think he will miss that much time? i dont know what happened to him but i dont think he tore his ACL. he'll miss their most important game of the season and thats the biggest thing. this is a perfect time for Jovetic to step up, he has the talent to do so.

Podolski > Inter Mailand.

The January window is rarely exciting, sadly. Major transfers tend to be a lot less frequent due to clubs being unwilling to sell their best players midseason. Suarez to Liverpool is probably the biggest January transfer I can remember off the top of my head, unless you count the Torres/Carroll debacles.

Harry Redknapp will probably sign one of his "top lads"(Defoe one of them) on Deadline Day.
Didnt Man United sign Evra and Vidic in a january transfer window once?

Wth is wrong with players and their agents these days? No disrespect to Chelsea as they are doing exactly the right thing. Unless he gets seriously injured the worst thing that will happen is he will destroy the Eredivisie or he'll be bought by Leicester at some point.
As a 23 y/o who has played only in Croatia so far...why would he go to Chelsea who not even value him enough to have him on their team right away?
If a very talented 17 y/o agrees to a deal with Chelsea with direct loan to another club ok. But a 23 y/o? WTH.

yeah odd move for him to make at 23 years old. But he'll probably get a shot next summer at making the squad. Could be their 2nd/3rd choice striker next year if he buys in(unlike lukaku) and replaces drogba.

It's actually pretty common and intelligent.
The guy will sign a contract with Chelsea(for a nice salary) and will be loaned out to another team that gives him better competition then his old one.
He'll then have a shot next summer going into training camp, with only Diego Costa having a guaranteed contract(not sure about Remy) and might be able to be a Chelsea player.
If he does make it then all of his treams of playing for titles and CL will come true. If not he'll go to another club, being able to negotiate a nice salary because he's been a Chelsea player etc.

Some players are also late bloomers. 23 is not that old.

Re: Transfer Thread 10.0- January 2015
He's only 23, it's not like he's coming here at 30 or something. He's still got a solid decade left of playing career left barring a major injury. He also gets a nice weekly wage and is going to play in a competition much better than what he's currently in, I'd say it's a good move for the guy.
He's also a lot more mature physically as opposed to a 17 year old, and I guess Jose wanted someone who can contribute by next year or the year after as opposed to 5 years down the line.
With Drogba set to hang up his boots, he could easily compete with Bamford for the 3rd striker spot next year.

What's the upside of becoming the 3rd string striker for a young player? I don't see it.
He should've gone to a mid-table/pretender EPL/Bundesliga/La Liga team as striker number 1 or 2. It's not like Chelsea will pay a 3rd string striker more salary than other teams would offer Kramaric for a starting role either.
If that turned out well offers from big clubs will come sooner than later.
With the current situation player agents can demand basically everything from clubs. Getting a managable buyout clause in there wouldn't have been the problem. Prove yourself at a mid-table club in EPL --> You'll instantly get much better financial offers than if you come out of Croatia.
Even in the unlikely event that Kramaric proves himself at Chelsea...he is locked in a low budget contract for years.
I'd say Kramarics agent has done a relatively terrible job.
Chelsea obviously did great business.
