That's why I said it's another story. It still shows how stupid the idea of a big sports tournament in Qatar is IMO.

I'm definitely not looking forward to watching this in November. Good chance I skip it.

I think this could be a fun one-time wrinkle. If it helps completely overcome the heat issue, even better. However, it should have been included in their bid. The way it has been implemented is far from ethical.

"Disrupted for a World Cup? You're making the World Cup sound like the Sherpa Vans Trophy. The World Cup's the World Cup, it's hardly a tin-pot competition.

"The Premier League will be disrupted for a year, every 24 or 28 years, for a continent to have a World Cup. We've got to get over it. Football's a world game."

world cup in the winter....

what a time to be alive in... kind of messes with the whole world cup attachment that I've grown into despite not even watching the sport outside of the actual cup anymore...

I'm sure kids in parts of the world where it's cold in the winter will enjoy going out prior to the game and emulate their favorite players, in the snow.

maybe we'll see nba finals in September during our lifetimes.

FIFA has been doing too much in this new century, globalization of the game that's already global as it gets is absurd. I don't think the continent rule is needed anymore. It's been an issue since the very first world cup.
