This is a great podcast for those who are interesting in knowing what happened behind the scenes to light this fire under Dragic. It includes conversation from current ESPN media member and former Suns FO member Amin and also the media person that's closest to the Suns in Paul Coro.

http://www.brightsideofthesun.com/2015/2/18/8066757/bs-of-the-sun-podcast-2-18-15-goran-dragic-the-trade-deadline-and

Its a must listen if you want to understand how this happened from two objective people who are credible (due to their relationship with the team) in talking about the Suns and Dragic.

rsavaj wrote:So I ended up listening to the podcast. Really good listen, too much to summarize tonight. I'd say it's almost mandatory listening for an understanding of how we got to this point.

All I'll say is that the FO comes out looking worse than Goran.

Going to bed feeling pretty down, to be honest.

It really was a great listen. Thanks for posting it in here, I wouldn't have listened to it otherwise. I made another thread to talk about it so that discussion doesn't get buried in one of the 100 page trade threads:

But soon we will have a new starting guard. One far younger and more powerful.

I'm still not sure we have the mentality of a championship franchise.

We still want to play up-tempo with a fan favourite coach.

The situation today stems directly from that.

The situation today stems from signing IT and drafting Ennis all as insurance if Bledsoe walked. Bledsoe ended up staying and now we have 3 players (Goran,Bled & IT) who all wanted (and to different degrees expected) to be our starting point guard.

It was an unfortunate misstep but that is how I see it. I just wish people would stop blaming the coach and players; it's just an imbalanced roster full of people who need the ball to be successfull. After today's trades are done we can all breathe easy and re-evaluate heading into this summer.

Well, if the Pacers are on Goran's list (and that makes sense), it's a good sign that Hibbert has been made available in trade. Of course, I'd like their draft pick - which probably won't be lotto if they add Dragic and George comes back. But we can send Plum and Dragic to Indiana. If they sent Hibbert along (with the idea that they can add a better center later, perhaps) and send us something they get in that deal, the return might not look quite so bad.

So it's just clicked past 5AM in Phoenix, Mac Daddy probably just started brewing his triple shot espresso. League be warned, he's coming for you.

This is the perfect time to package some players with Dragic and/or Thomas to clean house and bring a mid-season rebuild and try to build chemistry and development for the youngins .

Hey Suns fans!

The Bulls forum seems to think we might have some interest in Gerald Green to shore up our wing depth. Considering our FO's stinginess though, I don't think we have enough to offer for a trade. I'm guessing they see Rose, Butler, Noah, Gasol, Gibson, McDermott and Mirotic as untouchable, and they're probably unwilling to include a first round pick too.
So that leaves mostly scraps: Tony Snell (who's played well the last month but has been miserable the rest of his career so far), Aaron Brooks (but you don't need another undersized scoring PG right?), Etwaun Moore (3rd string combo guard), Nazr Mohammed and Cam Bairstow (fringe NBA bigs). They could include 2nd rounders, but GarPax hate giving away picks usually.

So we have no shot at trading for Green, right ?

Absolutely. I've been advocating a Green/Snell centred deal for a while. I'm a bit bummed he's started playing better which means Suns might not be able to milk a protected 1st from it.

Snell played HS ball in Phoenix, played up tempo ball in New Mexico (very well) and is a good defender. But I'm a bit biased because I like him a lot.

How about this:

Green, Plumlee, Marcus Morris

for

Taj, Snell

Opens more PT up for Mirotic and still have that extra backup C who can block/rebound each night...Suns need a vocal mentally tough veteran, Gibson would be ideal (which is why you guys wouldn't want to move him!).

I know it's Sarver's money, but owners need to keep out.

Follow the championship blueprint and not make decisions based on whims.

I think the Bulls forum is mostly ready to move Taj Gibson, but it's hard to gauge the front office. Thibs loves him, and he's a key piece of our bench's defense. FO probably doesn't want to mess with the chemistry too much since they see us contending for a chip currently. They'll probably stand pat and hope someone like Kevin Martin gets bought out so they can sign him, rather than disturb the rotations too much.

Snell has great physical tools and a decent skill level, but he's extremely inconsistent and passive. Playing a more uptempo style and under Hornacek could help him of course. I like the kid a lot, I'm delighted with his play over the last month, but if I take a step back, he's been a mostly terrible NBA player.

Sarver doing what's right. Dragic gives us 2 teams to trade him to? Ummmm.. Goran you don't make decisions here and you ruined our chances on getting a good player back to PHX.

I do not like how Goran and his agent has handled this situation. Keep your damn mouth quiet.
