So the Mavs are going to go after Sanders? How many players can they have on their roster? Is it different for them?

Suns should jump on this and offer Green or Tucker or maybe both.

Portland has shown a stronger desire to make a deal with Denver for Wilson Chandler than Arron Afflalo, partly because Chandler is under contract next season. The Blazers have made Will Barton and Thomas Robinson, as well as a future first-rounder, available in talks for wing players, but clearly would be more motivated to sweeten a package for Chandler than Afflalo, league sources said.

Lol yea he must be so bad that the rest of the NBA is trying to acquire him!

We are not saying he is not good, he is just not a good fit for the Suns. We already have a younger, better, higher ceiling point guard in Eric Bledsoe, and he is locked up on a nice long term deal. Why would the Suns, a rebuilding team, go and spend all that money for a 29 year old, who would then have to play out of position? Dragic is looking at his last chance at a big payday, did you really think he would give the Suns some kind of discount?

Having Goran Dragic on a large contract, as the Suns starting point guard, would not be good for the long term success of the team. What level will Dragic be playing at in 3 to 4 years, when he is 33? Dragic is redundant with Bledsoe already locked up. I was all for retaining him if he wanted to stay, but if he wants to leave, more power to him. The Suns are a rebuilding team with a glut at the guard position, and taking Dragic out of the equation hopefully opens up time for the younger guys, which is fine by me.

I don't think trading Dragic within the division will be a smart idea unless we get a mind blowing offer.

if Goran had wanted to stay (and i can understand why he wouldn't-- he's being asked to play forward off the ball LOL) then i'd have been OK w the suns overpaying him.

if it had been me meeting with dragic's agent yesterday i'd have said, "we would love to keep him and are willing to beat any offers you receive in the offseason. does he want to stay?" then when his agent said, "no he wants to play PG on a playoff contender, like the knicks or Lakers" then i would flip the table over and ylel, "i think so that doesn't make sense!" then later i would calm down and begin trying to trade him to the celtics.

There are too many point guards in this league.

Yes, PG's are like RB's in football. You can draft them in the 5th round. Ride them hard and discard them a few years later. There are a FEW great PG's / RB's that are the exception... Dragic is a nice player. He won't win us a championship. PG's rarely do.

Chris Paul? Hasn't won it all.
Nash? Nope.
Stockton? Nope.

Got to go all the way back to the real IT for a PG driven championship.

na you take the best offer regardless of what team it's from. If the goal is to win a chip then all other 29 teams are your competitors so who cares who you trade with.

What are you nodding about? Deuce doesn't even realize that the two weren't together the whole season, by using the full season win stats instead of the record they had together.

Lol, you are what your record says you are.

Well, for one that record adds up to 14 games over .500, not 7. Furthermore they went 28-15 when Bledsoe was healthy, a winning percentage that equates to a top 10 record.

So, if you are what your record says you are, then they were pretty dang good.

But, it was not going to be that team anyway since Frye was gone and Goran struggles to create without a pick and roll partner.

I get the feeling that he doesn't really care that much about going to a winning team and he cares more about being "The Guy". Now that doesn't mean he doesn't care about winning because we all know that he cares a lot about winning but he came back to Phoenix after they had a 33-33 season the year before and were in some level of turmoil. He only came here when it was clear we were moving on from Steve Nash. He can bluff all he wants about what team he wants to go to but I think at the end of the day if the team that has his bird rights offers him a max contract i.e. 5/100 he will resign. 5/100 > 4/80 regardless of big market or not. That being said I don't think that's the case with Phoenix since he seems to view this relationship as over.

Just like its being reported, the two teams that are front runners right now are the Celtics and Rockets.. However, don't count out the Knicks. I keep hearing that they're trying their best to get involved but they don't have ANYTHING the Suns want or even like...

Do not count out the Pacers..

Not that it matters now but, Goran wanted to stay . However, he wanted to stay and have the ability to run this team kind of like Steph Curry..

WeekapaugGroove wrote:Not to be a dick but those of you who say keep Goran and try to convince him to stay are crazy. At this point bridges are burnt and suns need to get what they can. Goran being on this team come Friday is a bad locker room situation and he'd probably get booed by a home suns crowd. Also to those who want to nor trade him are you cool giving him 5 yr 100 mil?

This may turn out to be a blessing in disguise. We won't overpay for a borderline All-Star at the PG position. If we are going to overpay, let it be at the 2, 3, or 5, the positions with the least amount of "All-Star" supply.

PLEASE, PLEASE, let Boston be the buyers and Sully be in the deal. Let's face it, the 4 is the one position we don't have a promising young up-and-comer. I've been on the Sullinger bandwagon for a good while now. I know he has his issues, but I still think he's got a bright future, and would love a rotation of Kieff and Sully for the foreseeable future.
