Al McCoy

Post#1 » by KaneSFFL » Wed Aug 20, 2014 6:41 am

Feeling nostalgic as hell right now and the article about the legend doing the mercury game will definitely have me tuning in to nbatv Friday to hear his voice.

What I really want this thread to be is a place for any and all al McCoy Classic sound clips. I remember there being an archive of stuff on azrepublic but can't find anything other than random nba clips where his voice cuts in during a classic suns moment. I just wanna hear the mans voice. The Nash era was great, as was the Barkley era, and even anything from last season would be amazing too but I can't find anything.

Also if anyone else has the love for Al that I do, please feel free to discuss this man who at 80 plus years old is one of the most underrated studs in the nba. Chick gets all the credit, but without bias I still think mccoys voice was made for basketball.

Al McCoy is the greatest. I've listened to him my whole life. I wish he was still doing simulcasts.

"I've got to tell you, somebody up there is on our side."
"Shazam!"
"Swish-a-roo for two"
"Heartbreak Hotel!"
"Wham Bam Slam"
"Zing go the strings"

I don't think Kempton was a good match for Al. His constant moaning and groaning regarding officials has rubbed off on him and it's annoying. I want at least a tad bit impartiality with my broadcast.
