OT - Media - Movies, TV, Youtube, Vine, Music, Books, Gaming

Post#1 » by bwgood77 » Fri May 29, 2015 3:32 am

I'm going to take a page out of the Bucks forum and start one here to see if people are interested, especially since it is the summer and sports, for the most part (unless you are a die hard baseball fan) are winding down.

What will you spend your time watching or listening to in replace of sports when you are not out? Not that you need to say now, but this can be a place to come share your thoughts after the fact.

Whether it be movies you may see, tv series you are marathoning, new music you have come across, share your thoughts with your fellow Suns fans! I've been posting in the media forum for quite some time, but I think I've only seen one other Suns fan post there (rsavaj).

Anyway, I guess I'll start it by saying I watched the third episode of Wayward Pines tonight and it had a pretty crazy ending. Also, if we discuss here what happened in movies or tv shows, please use spoiler tags.

Anyone see the new Mad Max movie?

Good idea for a thread. I have lots of forums I frequent outside of REALGM so it'd be nice to consolidate them a bit.

Wayward Pines looks cool. I definitely need to check it out. I love Bates Motel and I get the same vibe from WP based on the previews. Is it creepy/scary or more so a mystery?

I'll probably be a loser and work more overtime and lift weights. That and world of warcraft.

Agreed! Definitely minimal breaks from the action, which is exactly what I was looking for. I rarely see anything in theaters, but this was worth seeing on the big screen.

My favourite film so far this year. Throughout the film, I just keep thinking to myself.. if I just paused this, I could so use this as my PC wallpaper. It was just a masterfully filmed piece of art. It was harsh, yet beautiful. Also loved the minimal use of dialogue.

It's definitely worth watching on the big screen.

Well, quite different than that because it's a really odd situation. I hear it most compared to Twin Peaks, which I've only watched one episode of.

Well there is mysterious stuff going on....maybe more like an even crazier version of Lost or something. Or maybe something like a violent version of The Truman show, where the guy knows he's trapped somewhere AFTER living a normal life yet everyone else is trapped there too but eventually plays along because they know if they don't, they are going to be killed off the show (yet, I seriously doubt it's about a TV show....or if it does happen to be that, it would be like a version of Lost where eventually they all find out they are trapped in a tv show).

Super entertaining movie.

Another extremely entertaining movie from this year is Kingsman. And a brilliant movie is Ex Machina.

I wasn't too thrilled with Kingsman personally. Some parts were cool but overall ehh. Haven't seen Ex Machina yet but I had sparked my interest already, just need to find time to watch it

Kingsman is a weird one for how much people like it. We've talked about it on the media forum a bit. It seems like 80% love it and 20% don't care for it much. There are some over the top characters and moments but I loved most of the characters, action and story.

Entertaining but ridiculous. It's as if people had psychic powers in that movie.

Yes, far funnier than most of the crappy comedies out today. Clay Matthews and some of the Packers singing was funny.

I loved it. I think it had emotional ties to with the whole Paul Walker tribute which was very well done.

I'm quite particular with my action movies. If it's going to be over the top action, then make it so, if it's meant to be realistic action then then it so. Fast 7 was so ridiculous in some scenes I just could never get into it. I actually couldn't finish the movie.

I thought it was entertaining, but when
Spoiler:
the girl knew to drive and spin the car so Walker could jump on it, that was ridiculous, and when the Rock knew exactly when to do whatever he did at the end of that tunnel, that was ridiculous, and then when he suddenly showed up at the right time at the parking garage that was ridiculous. I enjoyed it ok though. Most all the other ones I thought were not that good. This one I liked because it was entertaining, but it was ridiculous with that psychic stuff.
