As the radio guys alluded to, given Booker's DOB he should be entering his freshman season this year and should've still been in HS last season. Although I think Archie was in the same situation.

I'm dissapointed that nothing big happened :( Wanted to move up in the draft. I even convince myself that trading for Cousins is a good idea. Anything that could pull Suns out of mediocrity.
I'm not a fan of prospects that main strenght is their shooting but I hope McD did the right choice. Last year I was disappointed with Warren too and now I love this pick. Good thing that Booker is very young and is said to hawe hight basketball iq. Nbadraft.net compare him to Gordon Hayward/Klay Thompson. Let's pray they are right :P
BTW Knicks fans sucks

Spoiler:
Grots wrote:I watched his Draft Express strengths vid and for the people who love Warren's cutting and moving without the ball, this guy's really good at that as well.

If he could learn some other stuff besides shooting he'd be a really good player. I'm not sure the Suns are the right team to teach him those things though. :/

His off ball movements is one of the main reasons I love the pick, not as much as I loved the Warren pick but it's still a solid pick. Warren/Booker could be a really dynamic pair in the future

This kid won't make it in the league man. His shot is going to have to be amazing (like korver esque) to justify leaving him on the floor in a playoff game. Not many guys you see that are just three point shooters without the defense. Hopefully I'm wrong and he develops into a good defender, but there's no signs to say he might other than him just being young. Even his shooting is somewhat wasted on a team like us that doesn't run very many screens for shooters.
he tested out really well in agility and he's not a bad athlete (better than Russell). No reason to think he can't be a good defender.

He has been poor at defending bigger players (small forwards) and doesn't have the lateral quicks to stop pgs. He basically can only defend pure shooter sgs like himself. The wing positions have been getting more and more fluid in the nba and I'm not sure he's the guy for that future. He will improve spacing for sure though, so hopefully that will help out the bench unit.

cmon. how can a guy test tops in the agility drills and NOT have lateral quickness? Good grief.

lol dude if you rely on combine athletic testing you'll go nuts, it has so little carryover to actual gameplay

zach lavine put up the same lane test #'s as the Jimmertron, and one of them is an athletic beast and the other can't stay in front of a chair

doug mcdermott had a higher vertical than blake griffin

the only combine numbers that matter are height, weight, wingspan, standing reach...and no-step vert. everything else is trash

Just watched some highlights and his footwork and shooting mechanics are crazy smooth. Wow

So after getting over my disappointment that Cauley Stein didn't drop to 13 and evaluating our pick, I think I like it. I really like it actually. And here's why...
The kid is only 18. How man 18 year olds can shoot like that? That's normally one of the last things to come by, normally players know how to dribble and work on their jumpshot later (Archie Goodwin). Jeff Hornacek is definitely the best coach for Booker, he can help him refine his shot mechanics and look for openings on the court.
Give em two years in the league to gain some muscle. Right now it doesn't even look like he has developed his triceps lol. He probably can't throw an overhead pass across the court. Anyway, I think he will become a better athlete with our trainers.
There's a lot of upside to this pick.

Reminds me more of Beal than Klay - either would be fantastic!

Curious with Goodwin there AND Bogdan next year, also means Green is definitely gone.

Hope he's not Stauskas...

Watching his DX vid and much better athlete playing than he is testing, threw down some decent dunks with ease.

He actually looks a bit like Landry Fields, but a better shooter.

Interview with Hornacek - he also said we might go really small and he could play some 3 next to Bled/Knight...

I must say Booker wasn`t my prefered choice yesterday before the draft (I wanted a PF/C) but given that all of them were picked before our slot Devin Booker was the best player available, indeed. Watching his workout vids now I have really warmed up on this kid, he does have some Klay Thompson in his game, pure shooter with underrated athleticism it seems.

Welcome to the Suns, Devin!

Well I was pretty down on the guy last night, but he probably was BPA. Fair enough pick by McD. Hope we see some good things from him as a Sun!

My favourite prospect at #13 range, BPA IMO. Brings the shooting this team clearly needs, smooth stroke, high release and has the size to defend any SG. And the most important thing and what everybody seems to be missing is his high IQ and willingness to pass the ball. We are already full of knuckleheads and don't need any more contributions to boneheaded plays.

Now, expecting Klay Thompson 2.0 is too much of a reach.

I'm thinking he'll end up closer to a Korver than a Klay. High IQ shooting specialist.

What I love is that he seems to be the opposite of Gerald Green. He doesn't look like he has all of Green's bad habits.

I'm expecting the Suns next year to maybe start the game with Bled and Knight, but transition to a single PG pretty early, giving Archie and Booker most of the time at the 2.

I'll tell you what though, this kids got a smile that rivals only former Suns great Wesley Johnson.

Even if he's more jj Redick than Thompson it's a good pick at 13. Because he's so young there's really no telling what he'll become, he might even grow an inch or two.

My first instinct is he won't play much this year because of his age but I could be wrong. The things he already does well like shooting and moving without the ball might earn him some minutes quicker than most young guys. I like that the suns added a high IQ player, they need more of them.
