RunDogGun wrote:Well I don't know what makes one a "franchise player", but there aren't many NBA players who score 70 points in a regular season game against a number one seed in the East, and then grab 8 rebounds and six assists. While I agree he is still young and has many things to work on, as JMac also admitted, I don't see how labeling him "sir chucks a lot" like Frank did is a good arguing point as to why Booker isn't a franchise player.
I think everyone has their definition of what a franchise player. Some have a lower bar while others like nitpicking to the highest order. Personally, my definition of a franchise player is one who not only puts up the stats, they must also have a consistent positive impact on the game. I don't think he's there yet. If you look at how he compares to the rest of the league, the only thing that stands out postively is his scoring where he's ranked 25th. 25th in scoring with a 70pt game as a 20 year old is nothing to scoff at but he also ranked 84 in TS% out of the top 100 scorers. Sir Chucks-a-Lot is an obvious dig at his shooting efficiency but it's not that far from the truth. Of the top 30 players with the highest FGA, Booker has the worst FG% and the 2nd worst (behind Jordan Clarkson) TS%. That's all before we talk about the other end of the floor. All I'm saying is, I don't think his stats are evidence he's a franchise player and there's better scorers, flashier players and better defenders who don't come close to being called a franchise player. He's certainly a part of our future but he hasn't proven he's a franchise player yet. But all signs (achievements to date, 70pt game, attitude, AGE and talent) point towards a future franchise player and potential multiple time all-star.

$3,250,000
Phoenix Suns guard Devin Booker, the NBA's youngest ever player to score over 60 points on in one game, purchased this custom modern home in one of Paradise Valley's newest subdivisions. The 5,600-square-foot house has four bedrooms, six-and-a-half bathrooms and comes with retractable glass doors and a four-car garage. The dining room has a wine cellar and a butler's pantry, as well as a chef's kitchen. The backyard features an outdoor living area primed for entertaining, with a private pool and spa. Kachina Dev LLC, a Delaware limited liability company, sold the home.

I'll not trade Devin for Kyrie straight up. I'm also interested in the opinion of others if someone would like to make a thread with a poll on the subject.

I take it that's a joke, considering we have this thread? viewtopic.php?f=27&t=1586279

His evolution from role-player to something more will depend on whether he adds more dimensions to his game.
Nobody's the next anything until they become who they are. Curry's wasn't seen as the next great PG, but he is one now. I could care less. People always put caps on rookies in every sport because it is just to easy to do and you cannot argue the point that Kobe will be the next MJ until he is.
At 18 Booker has all of the necessary attributes to be just as good as Klay or Reggie or Ray Allen or Allen Houston...... He is 18. Hell he could grow another inch or two. Wait until he loses that baby fat.
Booker only needs so so handles because he shoots so well, which he will develop because he is a student of the game. You don't need the Kobe Bryant, DWade, MJ ball stoppers anymore in this league. All you need with the new rules and play is a Klay Thompson or Mitch Richmong or bigger John Paxson or Craig Elho, because the game favor GS style. Good pick up.
Once we get our PF of the future.....we are straight moving forward. TJ Warren and Alex Len growth will make the PG's and SG's that much better and take that much pressure off of them having to be a LBJ type.
Bledsoe/Archie
Knight/Booker
Warren/Marcus
PF/Markieff
Len/Wright
I don't have an issue with watching that.
Look at my first post on him

Re: Devin Booker
I feel like Booker is where he is today because I was particularly critical with my analysis of him as our draft pick.
Keep working hard young grasshopper. I see great things in your future.
