Boxing Thread 3.0

Old Thread

Well...

I should looked back on that 1st page on that thread... The thought of Cotto/Mayweather fighting each other in 2008. Laughable in retrospect.

Hopkins/Pascal... I have a feeling Pascal will fade badly... and Hopkins will become the oldest champ at age 46 and then retire or face the champ of the supersix.

Let's hope we lose the Filipino fanboys in the process of moving threads.

Lets hope for some real competition for Pac-man to arise from the 140 or 147 pound weight classes.

Mosley was a dumb opponent but all the previous fights were pick'em cos of the move up. I got no beef with the level of his competition. He's no PBF.

Oh I agree. Its not his fault. But I hope someone rises up to become a real contender. After Marquez who is left that would provide a real test AND generate excitement outside of the hardcore fight fans? The only guys that I can think of that could fit both are Sergio Martinez, Floyd Mayweather Jr and Amir Khan but all those fights won't happen for various reasons.

Well that's basically what happened in the first fight. I suspect tonight, that Hopkins wont give up such a big lead early on, and will manage to out class and outpoint him for the majority of the fight. What B-hop does afterwards? God only knows.

I just tuned into the fight and Hopkins is doing pushups in the ring...during the fight.

Yea, mocking Pascal because Pascal stays seated usually 1-2 seconds after the bell rings... in that instance, he was sitting for 4-5 seconds into the round so B-hop broke out the pushups

To his credit, he's had to break so many holds tonight. It's not like either are listening to break either. But those two KDs should've been ruled as so.

Bernard might be the best clincher in Boxing history.Always tough to ref.

B-hop didn't actually clinch that much in that fight...

and I could say that second knockdown could have and should have been scored a KD but the first one was pretty iffy to me.

I'll nominate the 12th as a Round of the Year candidate, but no way in hell was it better than the 6th round of Ortiz-Berto.

This was Hopkins's win though. I don't see it any other way unless the first few rounds, Pascal dominated him.

And Hopkins becomes the oldest champion with a legitimate belt.

 Luv B-Hop

He's just been saving up all these years, now he's ready to throw down. He's such a smart guy (for a boxer) and he just owned him. Smart, savvy fighter, gotta give him his due. The guy's an absolute legend.

Hopkins might be a total bigot when it comes to everything outside of boxing, but man... the guy knows how to pick apart fighters like few can. He is a bad mofo. Oldest fighter to win a title, not just a meaningless belt. It was for the lineal/ring title.

In retrospect... I have to commend Taylor because outside of him( and a Prime Jones) he gave Hopkins all he can handle.

Speaking of Jones... he got KFTO in Russia. Smoger with the late stoppaged caused it.
