Non-threadworthy MMA Rumors/Quotes/Tweets/Etc., Vol. 2
I wasn't crazy about this thread at first, but it's turned out to be one of the more useful and popular threads on the board, so here's round two.
My only suggestion is that if you think a news item could get to two or three pages, it's probably worthy of a thread, as we still aren't that busy of a board.
Other than that, as you were.

That gif has an almost perfect loop. For a second I thought he chased him around the cage twice. I feel like running for your life is the equivalent of tapping out, but I see Larson actually won the fight...

Melvin is insane. Not the greatest all-around fighter, but does he ever pack some power. Larson ate that headkick relatively flush too... great chin.
Sub if the year if he finished that.

The line "a lying, sick, sociopathic, disgusting freak" seems to be Matt trying to claim there's actual dark motivation behind the transitioning or something. Does he know something about Fox's character?
"Freak" shouldn't be applied to a ts/tg person short of Buffalo Bill.
Rolling with Chris Lytle down in Indiana, this isn't surprising.

I don't agree with what she's doing, but Mitrione went over the line.
He seems to have painted a picture in his head of some guy who got a sex change for the sole purpose of legally beating up women. Which would make many of the things he said true. But I don't think that's the reality.
I'd like to believe she's just a person who had gender reassignment theory, and also happens to train MMA and has a desire to compete in the sport. As she considers herself a woman, I think she must believe it is only appropriate that she competes against women. That may be what is appropriate, but I believe she should have to disclose it. Even then, it doesn't quite sit right, but at the same time, it doesn't quite feel right to tell her she can't compete because shes a transgender person.
There's no real easy solution here.
On a side note, I don't know if I've ever seen something more corporate from the UFC than that message. Straight from Dana White's desk, I'm sure.

His verbiage was too strong but I kinda agree with him, I get the whole gender identity thing and Fox is now a woman but there should be some understanding there within herself that for most of her life she was physically a man. It's not really fair to be beating up women when you have that advantage, even if the process of becoming a woman has negated that somewhat. Especially if she did lie to get a license.

If Meathead had taken some time to think and instead said something like, "I don't agree with having a transgender person fight a woman. That person went through puberty as a man, and has a distinct advantage over opponents." That would have been fine. It was the "lying, sick, sociopathic, disgusting freak" line that got him suspended. He mighty have even been okay calling Fox a liar. I hope he isn't suspended for too long, I'm a fan.

I'll echo everyone else... being candid and honest is fine, but the disgusting freak stuff is too much. Either she's a disgusting freak because of the surgery or she's a disgusting freak because she explicitly underwent an operation in order to beat up women. Both are ignorant. Tact is important, "I don't agree with Fallon Fox fighting women" gets no one in trouble and don't try to speculate when you're as dumb and worldly as a bag of rocks.

Dana is just pissed because those union people are going to put the quote all over their little web-site.

Love the damage control at UFC in that press release. It's a start... there's more to show business than promotion.
But if you want to lose faith in the MMA community, read the comments section about this story on any number of websites.
"It's an attack on freedom of speech in our overly PC society"... I'd like to think it's just kids, but I know that's not the case.
