Haymon really has his fighters brainwashed into believing that he's going to be making more money for them than any other promotional company. Broner only made 1.3 for last night. Yeah, that dumBass should never have turned down Roc nation.

Porter/Broner was a decent fight. Pretty easy to see that neither of them are tier 1 fighters. Fight would have been better if the ref would have got control of it earlier.

Hate to defend Al Haymon but one of the points made against him was protecting his fighters i.e. Santa Cruz's recent fight- it turns out not to be the case all the time, he's typical of other promoters

The thing is Haymon is guilty of not just over protecting his fighters, but he's robbing them of career paydays and slowing down their momentum to the point where he's turned the fans against them. Just look at Stevenson and Garcia. I'm not seeing what the huge upside to signing with Haymon is at the moment. Seriously it's not rocket science. Broner could have signed a 40 mil deal with Roc Nation, but settled on fighting for 1.3 last night. Also his PBS format sucks. It's not WWE, it's boxing. No need for that solo introduction horsesh*t.

Porter is a good fighter. It's just that Kell Brook is a step above him and most welters.

Broner however isn't a welter. I don't even think he's much of a junior welter either. At 135 he had all the advantages due to his power and size. But he found out the hard way that people punch harder if not just as hard as him at 140-147. He can't overpower or overwhelm fighters at this weight class. His foot work and overall attitude still sucks too. He acts like he's a star when he's accomplished nothing at welter or junior welter. He's too stupid to even realize how this loss hurts him. He's going to go back to fighting a couple of more tomato cans after this, and then when he faces a good fighter again he's going to get his ass whipped.

Agreed.

Every time Broner tries to go up further or fight first/second tier fighters... he just gets owned and will continue to get owned. The guy just cannot transition from defense to offense at all, IMO. Not much of a counter puncher, most of his defense was holding Porter or jamming his forearm against his face/neck. Pretty pathetic.

I'd like to see Broner go back down to 135 though, if he can make it/has the motivation to stay in that kind of shape. He was actually pretty fun to watch when he was lighter.

Bradley/Vargas tonight on HBO from Stubhub Center in Carson, CA. Highly touted prospect Oscar Valdez makes his HBO debut on the undercard.

I'm impressed with Valdez's accuracy and footwork and he's landing some solid flush shots, but damn Tomayo's got a chin.

Good main event so far.

Yikes, what a dumb mistake from Pat Russell. I personally didn't think it would make a difference and to Bradley's credit, he didn't have to offer him a rematch but he did.

Vargas thought he was robbed of a KO? Bradley was already clinching on with seven seconds left......one of the judges had it a 10-8 round for Vargas even though there was no knock down, there's no need for a rematch, Bradley won decisively

Good fight but that ending was odd. There is quite a difference between the 10 seconds left warning sound and the bell ring, very surprised that he thought it was the bell. Maybe he needs a new hearing aid.

Agree with vi3t on no need for a rematch, Bradley clearly won the fight. Vargas is decent, maybe a little better, but he just isn't on Bradley's level.

Tim Bradley seems like a pretty cool dude and is a very entertaining fighter (most of the time). It's a shame that his career just seems doomed to be forever surrounded by controversy. Even when he clearly wins a fight, something crazy needs to happen at the end to put a question mark on it.

Big news...Cotto/Alvarez are closing on a deal. 155 lb. catchweight, Cotto's middleweight title on the line. Fight to take place on November 7 or 21, location TBD. It'll be on HBO PPV.

Any news on if the winner has agreed to fight GGG?

Read that a few times. Heard that the promoters were trying to get that worked into the contract somehow.

No word on that yet but I would imagine it's something HBO has in store for 2016.
