I think you guys underestimate the value of Benson. Longtime ufc champion capable of headlining events. In a world where Thales Leites, Joanne Calderwood, Todd Duffee are headlining UFC events, I think Benson is valuable. Not to mention he is a link to the Korean market and is willing to fight anyone across multiple weight classes and on short notice.

I think it would be pretty big for closing the credibility gap between Bellator and UFC. As RZ pointed out, Benson deserved to beat Cerrone recently. Even if that's ignored, the former champ near his prime aspect, nor earning inspiring, impressive wins against bigger ww's, if they keep coming, can't. Henderson, Sterling, etc. could create somewhat of a sea change. With that in mind, the UFC might have to play less hardball. Problem is, they are locked into the Reebok deal, which is predictably part of the fighters' issues with Zuffa. They got greedy. Now it might cost them resource-wise and financially. At least before sponsors were paying a good chunk of fighter's payouts. Now they'll have to stomach ponying up more of their own money.

The way I see it hardcore UFC fans are going to watch every event, and casual UFC fans aren't going to watch an event just because Benson is on it. I think he could be really valuable to Bellator as a star, but I've never said to myself, "Benson Henderson is fighting on this card! I need to watch it!"
Also, how big really is Benson in Korea? What we really need is the Korean Zombie back. Does he have a 4 year commitment?

Bendo vs. Brooks would be really interesting. Would totally watch Bendo vs. Kimbo.

Listening to a new-obsolete podcast called Round x Round. Nate Quarry is really unintelligent, LOL. I think he's supposed to be the talent on this podcast. Kyle Kingsbury is on the first, and he's very intelligent, very well-spoken. If you want to hear pretty long-form monologue about his growth into, like, holistic health and psychs over the past few years, I'd recommend it. But shut it right off the second Quarry jumps back in. His analogies and stuff - he's actually lacking some faculties. And he's annoying and void of charm. The podcast was ended after 3 eps, I see why.
Also, they talk pretty extensively and predictably about issues with the UFC. I would not recommend the re-hash. An anecdote or two that were striking, I can't recall them.

He's a gentleman and a nerdy Xian, is the thing. You don't want to cast too much of a spotlight on him, in a sense.
Or you go the GSP route and make that his identity, maybe?

IDK what a Xian is but I do know that a top 5 (possibly better) fighter in the best and deepest division in the sport is super valuable regardless.

Top 5, super valuable like Askren? Fitch? The guy at 155 has a lot of repeats with the same crew of WECers.
I am never excited to see him fight, or wasn't prior to his anytime / anywhere narrative. A reason beyond his style, for sure.
I think he's great and legit, btw, I'm just not sure we'll see that reflected.

Ep 2, Lawlors description of being broken by Doerkson's poise is well articulated. And he credits that experience as being the only way he moved on to any further success. Understanding the role of poise. You hear learning from losses, this is good example. Also, Bore Quarry gives some analogy to motorcycle racing game giving analogy to MMA fight pacing. Tom retorts he learned everything from Paperboy! lol

So they have the DC/Rumble out as a free fight - post eye-poke Rumble might be the GOAT.

Remember when Rumble tapped and then said the takeaway message was to never give up?

Thought that was poor timing.

Rafael lovato jr, probably best American bjj guy ever (second mundials champ behind Penn), won his second mma fight tonight by sub in about a minute.

I didn't want to derail the card discussion in the other thread, but was Rogan on the heefer before the event tonight? I was at the bar, so may have misheard, but did he really say that GSP retired right in time before killers entered his division or some other BS?
LOL! Killers like who? He already 50-45ed Condit who is next in line. He fought Hendricks. Lawler is a good stylistic matchup for GSP imo. Who else is in the mix? Obviously he beats Maia, stylistically. Woodley has already been shut down by that tristar gameplanning. Matt Brown? lol. Rogan, kiss the ring.

They were talking about how good Might Mouse was and how a dominant champ makes everyone else in the division get better trying to match him (which seems a bit dubious). He did say that about GSP.

WW has always been an absolute shark tank. It was at least as good during GSP's prime imo.
MW is the division that is a lot better now imo. The death of TRT Vitor and Machida losing a step have been big hits, but for a short period of time, it went from one of the worst to one of the best with Weidman/Anderson/Jacare/Rockhold/Machida/Vitor/Romero.

I thought it was hilarious when he talked about taking his wife to firestone (or whatever) and said he didn't realize she had this whole appointment and all this and he had to wait.
