WWE Network Thread

Post#1 » by Dunthreevy » Mon Jan 27, 2014 3:18 pm

Alright, so last night seems to be a bit of a turning point in the minds of pretty much everyone here on the board. Aside from 1 person, it appears that everyone is pretty fed up with WWE's decision making, nearly across the board. Considering the Network starts up in less than a month, I think they picked a pretty bad time to alienate a large chunk of their fans. Hit up the poll so we've got concrete numbers to gauge. It's all about numbers!!

Also keep in mind that we don't know what we want. Vince McMahon will tell us what we want. He flat out told us so on an episode of RAW a year or so ago. At the time it was looked at by some as "wow he's really heeling it up out there." In reality, he wasn't kidding or playing a role, at all.

LMMFAO @ option 5.

I was very close to getting the network, after last night I am waiting to see how things pan out. If it coniutes this path, I will not. So yes, you can directly contribute the pushing of Batista to me not wanting to spend money on the product.

I feel the same way. As of this moment, I don't plan on subscribing to the Network. If you would have asked me 24 hours ago I would have to you that I was going to subscribe. Last night seems like such a slap in the face that I can't bring myself to do anything that will benefit the decision makers at WWE in any way. I'm sure I'll probably cool off a little between now and February 24th, but that's going to depend on the results of the next few episodes of RAW, which I will read here.

LMAO Dunthreavy....I'm thinking option 5 works out.

I probably won't. First it's not even available in Canad so the choice is not even mine at this point. But also, I had WWE On Demand up here and it was so much repetitive content.

Plus the internet plans up here for downloadable content would be killer in addition to paying WWE whatever it costs to stream. I'll just catch what WWE content on I want on Netflix and on cable.

I had given up on WWE up until the Summer of Punk and they're slowly just pushing me away again.

I had the On Demand subscription for about 6 months a couple years ago and dropped it for the same reason. Very limited amount of things to watch and a lot of it wasn't stuff I wanted to sit through anyway. Had Hulu Plus for about a year before I dropped it, for the same reason. I just couldn't justify paying $8/month to watch NXT.

I would've bought it without question before last night's PPV but with Batista winning the Rumble and the landscape of how things are looking, at this point right now, I don't think I will. That could change depending on what happens between now and Chamber.

I still think I probably would. Especially in the first 6 months, its just such a value. Wrestlemania, MITB, Summerslam I would get all of those plus the tape library. The question for me, and I don't think there is an insignificant number of people who share my view, is would I renew. Because those next 6 months are the Rumble and a bunch of b-PPV's (yes, Survivor Series falls into that category now) and I will have pretty much seen everything I wanted to see in the tape library.

prior to last night i was a definite yes, probably still am, but safi makes a great point about not renewing after summerslam, especially if we have to put up w/the garbage that's occurred since the event

i was in the definite yes group before, now i probably will still do it but not as excited about it as i was before. Being able to get all the PPVs at an affordable rate was a large part of the appeal, but with the issues with the current product that appeal has lessened considerably.

For WWE's sake, I would hope they have enough business sense to make the Network's older content a limited library that's rotated periodically, rather than streaming it all at once. I am sure a large contingent of their subscribers will be signing up for the older content rather than what their current product offers. What's to stop a fan from viewing as much of the older footage as they could within the first 6 months and then cancel their subscription? Gradually making the older footage available will keep the fans of the older WWE hooked, while giving them time to try and sell them on what their current product offers. The fans of the current product will subscribe regardless due to the cheapness of the PPVs.

I'll subscribe since I'm currently going through an Attitude Era rewatch and it would be nice to have better quality episodes of RAW available.

Also all the territorial content will probably be worth the price by itself.

The fact that the PPVs are thrown in there is a nice bonus.

From what i read it sounded like not all the content would be available at all times, they're going to have some sort of rotation as you suggested. I didn't see any details as to what that would look like though. But i assume it'll be a Netflix type thing where every so often they put up "new" content and remove other content. As long as they announce when they're doing that and what content is being added/removed it should work out well.

For those upset with the WWE's current storylines this is a great way to let them know how upset you are. E-mail the WWE and tell them why you are not willing to buy the WWE network at this time and tell them what they must do to get your hard earned dollars

I saw it live, albeit on scrambled PPV. From what I remember, the scene started with a crowd shot with an abrupt cut to an awkward backstage promo with Jarrett. Later I learned that this promo was planned for later in the night, but they moved it up so that they could get Owen out of the ring. Until the next match started, they alternated between crowd shots (they were stunned... or from what I could tell from the scramble) and JR, who mentioned that Owen had an accident and that none of this is part of the scheduled entertainment, etc. The next match was a Val Venis match and both guys just worked through it with their hearts clearly not in it, I remember JR not giving a **** and speaking in hushed tones. A little after the match, JR announced that Owen was dead. I remember the period between the backstage promo and the Venis match starting feeling much longer than it actually was... it was really confusing to follow and at first it looked like they were planning to end the show, but obviously went back on that idea.

I'm guessing they'll cut out the fan shots + JR's immediate reaction and re-shoot commentary for the matches that occurred after the incident.

(though I could be wrong on this... it was 15 years ago)

No. I would wager a guess that they don't even have footage of it, since nothing has leaked. If a fan took a video too, it would have materialized online.
