Great points on Brock I've always liked him as well...

When the streak ended and they didn't play his music and there was this silence I was like
ok Hogan or somebody is coming out and saying he raised his arm and the match needs to be
restarted.

Then I was kind of glad because the match was so bad and the streak was starting to over shadow
Mania year after year and they were running out of credible opponents.

Also that song from the DB video package is still stuck in my head. To over come the stinking Miz
as your coach/mentor and getting fired for an over aggressive crossface outside the ring during
a brawl?

Without the beard and long hair he looks like a little kid though...

I have no issue with Brock. But breaking the streak was completely and totally wasted on him. Nothing is accomplished with this. Nothing at all.

no one could replace Brock though. agree on the points made that he had nothing to lose nor gain. though Taker had "a lot" to lose.

Reigns and Wyatt - too early
Cena - then what? passing of the torch? Cena, even in his prime, doesn't look like the future anymore
Bryan - they couldn't have booked it any better than they did

others? can't think of any unless it's sort of a retirement match but it needs a great execution for Taker to not look bad.

his match was really unlike him and I really think it's not for him anymore. he needs guys who can dance with him and do the majority of the work.

Brock was the wrong person to book for Taker to fight, there was no way he would have had a "great" match with him at any point in the last 5 or so years. At the same time, I'm warming up to Brock being the guy who broke the streak, yes it was wasted as no one gets over on it, but at the same time no one is cursed to have to live up to it. The week was a win in that they made a star in Cesaro and Bray went step for step with the Cenation and RAW was full of up and comers getting big starts... so streak ending wasn't a big win, but its going to avoid a HUGE disappointment down the road.

I was thinking about this and I think regardless of whether or not Punk left the WM 30 main event was going to be Orton-Batista-Bryan. Because I think Bryan walking out as champion had more to do with Batista not getting over than Punk leaving. Batista not getting over and Punk leaving are completely unrelated and if Punk had stayed and they went ahead with Punk-HHH, they would've found a way to get Bryan into that match. How that is, I have no idea. I think they would've given very serious thought to Bryan winning the title at Elimination Chamber. But one thing that's for sure regardless of Punk's decision, Batista-Orton was not a tenable situation.

after finally actually watching Taker v Brock not sure how anybody could have wanted to see Taker out there "performing" anymore. He looked like he was on his last leg. he was clearly running out of time and i don't think he had another mania in him even if it was a year away. Outside of the finish (which was also lackluster) that match was nothing special.

Undertaker had a concussion early in the match and who knows how much that effected the quality of the match. It wasn't the best stylistic matchup either as Brock can't bump around and create movement like Punk or HBK, and doesn't have the ring psychology to tell the story that the HHH matches did. But prior to this year he had IMO without a doubt the best match at the last 5 WM's and while I don't think a lot of people would make the argument I think the argument could be made that his match with Edge was the best at WM 24 but most people would say it was Flair-HBK.

Undertaker was injured early in the match with what was later called a severe concussion and looked totally out of it from then on, there were reports afterwards that Vince had to go to the hospital with him after the event because he collapsed backstage, so it's not like that was Undertaker at 100%. I do think he's probably done, but against a guy like Sting, who is probably the only guy who he'd consider wrestling at this point, he could have a much better match than what he and Lesnar had.
