I hated that opening tag match.

I liked the NOAH vs. New Japan tag match.

Minoru Suzuki is basically Brock Lesnar. I **** love the guy. He always looks like he hates doing the pro wrestling thing. Creates a real sense that he's a genuine bad ass that could wreck anyone in the locker room if he didn't have to play pretend-fighting. That doesn't sound like it should work, but it creates a great atmosphere to work with. Brock does the same thing for me.

I watched it live, the last two matches were MOTY worthy. I really liked that Shinsuke Nakamura vs Kota Ibushi match.

Overall best wrestling show I have seen in years. The last NXT special following.

For anyone who wants to watch it:

It was all about Nakamura/Ibushi and the Magabe/Ishii Lariat and Death Suplex Challenge. Main event I couldn't really get into... I don't care for Okada and Tanahashi, I can see why he's a super over babyface, but I much preferred the IC match.

Also liked Kenny Omega... dude should be a star.

Why do they show old footage on the show on AXS?

Also why does the interview room look like it has equipment from 1985?

I'm guessing they wanted to handpick some really good matches to try and draw in a new audience who has never seen New Japan before.

Having a weekly live or current show would be sort of tough to do with the schedule they are on. It's usually 'road to' shows almost every day for 10-14 days leading up to a PPV and then many times they take anywhere from a week to almost a month off after that before doing it again the next month.

Samoa Joe's tweets sure make it sound like he's going to NJPW to join The Bullet Club.

Interesting. Making him their young boy could be a cool way to break him in and have him pay his dues. I honestly have only seen him wrestle once and it was when he first started wrestling. Is he improving?

From what I understand he's improving and I'm sure he'll improve a lot from this. And I think he's doing this the right way. I'm sure a developmental deal has been on the table for him since he started. But going to NJPW, learning how to work in front of a different environment, learn how to work a different style than what he's probably accustomed to even in his relatively short career, will only benefit him when he does eventually make that jump.

Kota Ibushi vs AJ Styles for the IWGP HWC from the 4.5.15 Invasion Attack PPV was excellent!

Most the matches on the card worth watching, but the PPV overall was average at best for NJPW, with that probably being the one standout match.

I don't love the card. Most of it is a little disappointment in what this card could've been if a few things transpired a little differently. Alberto finished out his ROH dates recently, it appears Joe's done the same and Adam Cole's out with an injury. I like Cedric Alexander and ACH, Michael Elgin not so much, but if it was Nakamura vs Joe and Okada vs Alberto and Tanahashi vs Cole instead... oh boy! Beyond that, I assume The Bullet Club 10 man tag will be the main event and I think 10 man main events are more often than not lame outside of the occasional Survivor Series match.

I do think the Okada and Nakamura matches will be very good and Jay Lethal and Naito should be fun. Kushida and Sabin is a really clever pairing, I hope they involve Shelley but don't make him the special referee or involved in the finish. I think guest commentary would be sufficient. And the 4 team tag match will be a blast.

It is sort of a what could have been card for sure. I agree with you on the likely interesting matches. Big opportunity for ACH and Cedric. Also wouldn't sleep on the 5 man tag, there's good talent there and the NJPW guys work so many 8 and 10 man tags that they really tend to be better matches than you're average throw together 10 man tag from WWE.
