Global Force Wrestling

Post#1 » by jr lucosa » Mon Jun 23, 2014 10:06 pm

I suppose it's as good a time as any to get this thread started. Anyone excited?

What I know up to this point

They have reached a deal with Dave Broom and 25/7 productions
http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/live-f ... new-696160

They have a partnership with AAA, Mexico's top promotion and NJPW, Japans top promotion to exchange talent with both companies.

The #TheJourney videos on their Youtube page are pretty cool, which show Jeff and Karen going to different places in the world scouting talent. In the videos they've been to Mexico City, New York, Pennsylvania, and Canada. To quote part of the description from one of the videos "The #GlobalSearch started on January 6, 2014 and we have already grown our database to over 500 young men and women." Here's one of said videos

Double J talking to SBNation about GFW back in April http://www.sbnation.com/2014/4/7/558279 ... otion-logo

Jeff Jarrett tweeted this out on June 12th when WWE released 11 superstars
[tweet]https://twitter.com/RealJeffJarrett/status/477138186364538880[/tweet]

I'm not sure how reputable wrestlingrevealed.com is, but they name a few wrestlers by name who will supposedly be working with the company when they launch. I've read Kharma, Lance Hoyt, Elijah Burke. The same website claims the company has a launch date planned some time around October of this year.

I have always had the thought that it will come on CMT (because of Toby Keith) but whether it is or not hopefully they get a national tv deal as soon as possible.

Only $5. Gotta jump on these before they sell out.

Karen Jarrett is looking worse and worse the more she tries to look better.

There's a lot of skepticism towards this project, but Jarrett seems to be making a lot of progress.

I can appreciate that he's focusing on the business elements (and that makes me think this could work in some capacity)... but I think he should have unveiled the name and logo and future plans and all that after he made some headway. He's too synonymous with bad brands of wrestling and spreading the news early allowed a bunch of wrestling fans to think, "oh great, so I can ignore the first two years when he's champion" and we don't even know what his functions will be in this organization, besides being an owner/founder.

I'm intrigued to say the least. Would be cool to see a new promotion get on national tv. I gave up on TNA a long time ago, so it would be cool to see someone else take a crack at it.

yeah if Jarrett can give Trips a run for his money product wise it would be great to see. Too much talent in the biz to be regulated to one company.

All the partnerships with other wrestling promotions have me especially intrigued, and makes me even more hopeful of a TV deal because, what else does Jarrett and his new promotion that have yet to even put on an event have to offer exactly, other than he and Karen (and Scott D'Amore) showing up at their events? I mean, they've got deals with the top promotion in Japan, one of the top two in Mexico, a bunch of promotions in Europe, one in South Africa. Maybe it's just me being optimistic but he must have something lined up to land all these deals right?

definitely seems like it. like it should be more than just talent sharing. im really hoping he turns this into a viable option to WWE.

So it looks like NJPW's Wrestle Kingdom 9 on 1/4/15 will be available on US PPV branded GFW with english commentary.

Global Force Wrestling’s first ever event will be producing New Japan Pro Wrestling’s WrestleKingdom event on traditional US PPV. The show takes place on January 4th, and is being listed by PPV providers as, GFW Presents New Japan’s WrestleKingdom. At this time, the plan is to show the PPV live (likely around 3AM ET), and then air it later that day in the traditional Sunday night PPV time slot.

And JR has said that he'd be potentially interested in calling the PPV

My point is, if I like projects, if it seems like fun, if its going to be win-win for everybody involved from a business standpoint, I’m open to a lot of things – and that would be on my list of something I’d be interested in doing if it was a good business decision and a good arrangement for both parties. I certainly would listen to what they had to say.

YES YES YES YES YES

The lack of English commentary has kept me away from NJPW, despite it sounding like exactly the type of wrestling/presentation I prefer.

Stoked. And I learned that I share a birthday with JR, so I'll be watching/he'll be commentating when we're both hungover. High five.
