bynum is a UFA after next season, so I'd be fairly hesitant to include the picks in a bynum trade.

True, but Bynum is all about money. He had the famous "You can cash a check anywhere" line in regards to where he'd be willing to pay. Basically this generations "CTC". As long as the Blazers are willing to offer Bynum the most money, I wouldn't fret about him leaving that much. But then again, do you want to offer a guy huge money when his competitiveness/attitude is so wildly suspect.

I think Bynum's attitude is closely related to the power balance with Bryant.

I'd be glad letting Thabeet go if for nothing else than to get rid of his twitter feed on Hoopshype twitter page. Seriously, that guys tweets are insanely awful. He's one of those ALL CAPS mass tweeters.

I wonder how much Greg Stiemsma is going to get paid this summer?
GetItDone I've already stated they (Clippers) will make at least the WCF or else I will post a video of myself eating my own pubes.

kumquat wrote:Uhhhh what. Thabeet could be the worst center in the NBA. The guy has zero feel for the game. The only thing similar between Thabeet and Hibbert is that they are really tall. Hell Ha Seung Jin would give Thabeet a run for his money.

He could be the worst center but not because of lack of talent. He has the talent to play and the size to be dominating.

His problems are he is dumb and unmotivated. His lack of motivation is probably the biggest problem. No matter how dumb he is, basketball is an easy game and he can learn. You can't learn how to be a PG or a playmaker but he can learn how to take advantage of his size and that is all he needs to have the knowhow to be very good.

It’s not going to cost a big contract to keep him and he is worth a roster spot if there is any chance to motivate him.

We couldn't keep Oden motivated and he was our pride & joy. How are we going to keep a third big motivated?

Screw Thabeet, he is a waste of space. Better off with Chris Johnson. Thabeet is the ultimate i'm in the NBA because I'm tall. Memphis dumped him as the second pick of the draft over Hadadi, Houston dumped him after a short stint, that should tell you something. He's not a contributor in any way, shape or form other than a big body. If he was at all skilled, he would have been played.

Unless, you are blind you can see he is talented and well over 7' tall. The fact that he has many problems is the reason he is a cheap gamble with a potentially high payoff if he suddenly gets a clue.

The Blazers aren't suddenly going to get good without a little luck. Thabeet is a cheap gamble that could payoff. And, if he doesn't payoff, not much is lost.

There are other cheap gambles that would be better than Thabeet....

If they have an extra spot then sure, but honestly the guy is not an NBA player...He is no longer a gamble, he is just roster filler at this point...and like I said POR could find more useful roster filler than him...

saw some of you were considering okafor, would you be interested in Gordon also??

Matthews 6 and 11 for Okafor and Gordon??? hornets would be willing to a **** contract or 2 to make it work (babbit? shawne williams?)

could have paid off, but didn't. let's not make it sound like he didn't get some burn towards the end of last season. he did. he failed to capitalize on it. thus, the cap space would be better used trying to re-sign hickson or to gamble on freeland.

that's an overpay on portland's part, and I'm not one to overvalue picks.

presuming blazers management wants to fill the role of injury prone shooting guard, I'd prefer they just offer gordon a max contract and force nawlins to overpay to keep him.

I assume you mean a S&T with Gordon? That's tricky business to involve draft picks from June and a S&T from mid July in the same trade. And by tricky, I mean next to impossible.

But simply looking at the trade in theory, I don't like it.

Regarding Thabeet, I'd be interested in him coming to training camp and competing for a spot. If he can outplay the other 3rd string centers at camp, then I guess he earned it. Or, the Blazers centers really suck... :o
