I don't know if it's a lack of bbiq or just plain laziness. Honestly, everything Jaynes does, from his short radio interviews to his "blog", it all just smacks of laziness. He just does the bare minimum that will keep him relevant and on TV.

there might be some of that involved but ball knowledge is very transparent & bball is not a strength of his.

True.

He is insufferable.

If he can't handle this, then just wait until he messes something up.

Is it just me or has the oregonian ripped on the Blazers ever since we fired mr talky talk Kevin Pritchard? I was a fan of KP but holy cow the oregonian is sickening, same game over and over. I'm beginning to think we need to start a no-oregonian policy on realgm, though obviously that wouldn't work too well :).

First it was the jailblazers which I will NEVER forgive the oregonian for. They were an inch away from scaring the Blazers away from Portland if our owner wasn't so supportive of the city. Now we did what they wanted and built a class organization and now they say we hired a guy who doesn't get our city. Yeah, if he doesn't get Portland why would he be anxious to sign here? I mean yes I understand that this article wasn't an entire knock on the team or its fans but is this really all that our biggest newspaper can surmise?

I would agree that there is a lot of anxiety with what is going to happen but I think it has less to do with Olshey then the organization as a whole. The fans have waited a whole year trying to figure out what direction the team is going. There has been a slow build during that time and he is walking into the middle of it. Whether the decisions the organizations made in waiting to hire a GM were right or wrong fans arn't used to waiting that long. I think the article is a little misleading in I think it's this situation he doesn't understand then the city or fans in general.

I can't take the Oregonian sportswriters seriously. They seem to have little ability to see the big picture on any given day, and their writing suffers accordingly.

Oh and Olshey prolly doesn't get the Portland media. Then again, I think you almost have to be as **** crazy as Canzano and Quick to actually get it, so I don't think that's exactly a negative. Quick and Canzano basically think they should be able to know every detail of what goes on inside the Blazers organization. That's simply ridiculous and really it would likely be a terrible competitive decision for the Blazers. Their unwillingness to accept or understand that basic point, that Blazers brass shouldn't reveal everything to them at their whims, is a primary cause of the strife between the Oregonian and the Blazers. I understand they need to do their jobs, but the number of times they've created a fire just to watch the Blazers burn is too many to count at this point and has gone beyond disrespectful. Their expectation that Olshey have everything in place 10 days after his hiring is a prime example of that.
