GO sighting in PDX
Couple of my friends ran into Greg Oden tonight. Personally I am little surprised he would even come back to Portland, considering he's on record saying portland isn't the best NBA city for a man like his fame to live in. I'm past GO as an option for the Blazers, but would you even consider a return of GO as a blazer? As a back up? I've heard hes back in basketball shape running the court and working out at OSU.

Good for your friends, nothing else to talk about here.

Re: GO sighting in PDX
If he was open to it and the new medical staff got a chance to run him through tests, it is certainly something to be considered. His ability and size is so rare, if you could get him for cheap as a back up, why not. Without the weight of the whole team on him, he might be in a better place mentally as well.

Wonder what he was doing here. I'd take him back in a heartbeat. 24 years old and still plenty of potential

actually, he's 25 and will turn 26 next season....time flies
after 3 micro-fracture surgeries and a completely fractured patella it's almost certainly not a case of if he'll break again, but when.
I suppose there would be some justice if Portland was the team that got whatever productive basketball he has left in his tank. They've paid him over 23 million so far. Considering he's played 82 games, that works out to 23 million a season for a player who gave them 9.4 points, 7.3 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks. Oden should play for Portland for free

That's a really stupid thing to say. If you were Greg, would you work for free?
I Would sign him in a heartbeat. He fits our exact need, and probably is our best option.

Re: GO sighting in PDX
If he came extremely cheap and unguaranteed then why the hell not. If he's asking for anything more than what he got in his rookie contract then HELL NO

Re: GO sighting in PDX
I would absolutely sign Oden if he wanted to to sign here, and wouldn't cost more than a couple mil. Yeah, he's an injury risk, but when you're not getting paid multiple millions and expected to be a franchise player, it doesn't matter so much. If he does get hurt again, oh well, that sucks, and we move on. But if he manages to stay healthy he could be exactly what we need for our center position.
I can understand that there might be some bad blood, and he may want/need a fresh start. But I also feel that we invested in him, supported him, and to a degree he owes us a little for that. "Owing" is the right word, but I would appreciate if he had the desire to take the challenge on again and makes thing right.
Some fans may be hesitant to welcome him back at first, but that would be very short-lived if he came in with a positive attitude and contributed.

doubt it happens, but I'd still rather sign oden than bynum.

they could sign them both but then the 15th roster spot would be occupied by scar tissue

I was under the impression that he hated Portland.

good for Greg. i wish nothing but the best for him. he got way too much crap, a lot of it warranted, while he was here.

Re: GO sighting in PDX
Word from my friends who talked to Oden is he would really like to go to Memphis and reunite with Mike Conley Jr. Oden backing up Gasol
that would be pretty ridiculous.

Re: GO sighting in PDX
He is probably here collecting the free medical treatments the Blazers owe him until he is fully rehabbed from his injuries.

Return to Portland Trail Blazers
