Trailblazers opening season VS Thunder, followed by CLE
Well it seems we get the supershowcase early on, as we happilly don't open the season in PHX. Instead we face the inner division foe (and rival) Thunder on Oct the 29th.
Then the new and improved Cavs are set to come to Portland after the B2B vs the Knicks (Oct 30) and Bulls(Oct 31).

We have 2 4games road trips and 2 5 game road trips.
We have 1 SEVEN GAME home stand and 2 or so 3 game homestands.
We face the thunder 3 times on natonal TV and the Clips three times on national tv.

Doesn't seem as bad as last season's schedule. There really aren't any tough long stretches here. Definitely a schedule I can live with.
Edit: 17 back to backs seems like a tad much, is that ordinary?

A pretty balanced, easy schedule for the Blazers...
Lol, at the Lakers first 17 games being against 14 playoff teams...apparently the NBA is trying to actually kill Kobe on National TV (28 games).
How much you wanna bet he starts demanding a trade to a contender after the Lakers' 2-15 start?

It looks like that's about the mean number... Charlotte has 22 b2bs

Good lord, that could almost be enough to make the difference between a lower seed making the playoffs or not.

am I the only one that doesn't really feel like Oklahoma City is a rival? other than the "they used to be the Sonics" part of their history, I have absolutely no feeling, good or bad, towards Oklahoma.
if anything, I hope a rivalry begins to establish with Houston. both teams have two all-stars, play great offense and little defense. and that playoff series last season was one of my all-time favorites.

The all start break is being lengthened to 8 days so the high amount of b2b's are a result. I think it's a good move by Silver, it gives the guys actually participating a short break from work.

Historically I'd rank the lakers our biggest rivals followed by the Jazz out of the current nba teams. The T wolves may be up there because of the whole off season drama but if they are theyre behind la and utah (clearly). I wouldnt say Portland and Houston have enough of a history to be rivals. As far as okc goes youre 100 percent right. Besides OKC being the former sonics and a team in our division I really dont feel that much either way about them.

True, but there are still home/away or away/home games this season. Dunno that it really matters if it involves the same team or not ... although that does seem really silly. There are only 5-6 back-to-back games at home/away or away/home and most involve games at one of the LA teams location, Denver, Phoenix or Utah. That's within 2 1/2 hours so that's manageable.

This is probably the most balanced schedule I have seen for Portland in a long time, not too hard at all. Much better than last year.

Well they are in the same division as us, we didn't draft thier best player and last year Durant said the two teams do not like each other.
Which I found surprising since him and LMA have that Longhorns connection.
In fact Durant poked fun at us splitting the season series saying "we didn't have our PG for 3 of those games"
I do however think Hou is a rivalry as well, but they shaked up their roster.

The best part of facing Dallas and Cle early, is we get them when they have no chemistry, while we have Uber chemistry between our starters.
