I think this pick is about a bulldog that comes off the bench to grab some boards and play some D. The league has changed but that role is still damn useful on any NBA team...

Especially when we have the tendency to be a team that scores with finesse and lacks a bulldog.

Lol, this place is cracking me up!

One thing for certain, Swanigan is a hard worker...

I don't really see a reason that Vonleh, Davis and Swanigan all need to be on the Blazers. I wonder if this is a signal that Vonleh or Davis are getting moved.

I would have vastly preferred the outside shooting and perimeter defensive potential of Bolden.

Jordan Bell was built for the playoffs.

Consider me disappointed. I like Swanigan as a pick in general, but drafting a defensive role player is what we need more than anything.

There are really big chances he would fail to find a suitbale niche in the modern nba for himself, but his skill set is great enough to make you feel OK with that when 26th pick is on clock.

I LOVE Swanigan...there isn't a better story but I loved him before that just looking at his numbers...when I saw he was an 18, 12, guy and oh yeah, by the way, shot 44.7% from 3. This guy knows how to come from hard times and get better. I can't imagine there is much not to like about this guy.

CBS Analysis on Swanigan:

Caleb Swanigan, PF, Purdue
NBA teams will regret not taking Swanigan if he lasts into the second round. If he does last that long -- which I think would be silly -- it will be because of concerns over his athleticism. But Swanigan more than makes up for those concerns with a work ethic that was unparalleled in college hoops. Seriously: I've never seen a young man more focused on his goals than Biggie. He knows what his role will be in the NBA, as a down-and-dirty rebounder who can outmuscle you and who also happens to be a decent shooter. Coaches love high character guys. There aren't many dudes out there with a higher character than Swanigan, who overcame a rough childhood -- homelessness, obesity, family instability -- to be on the brink of the NBA. He's not a project. Biggie is ready to make a difference in the NBA.

If Bell goes to Spurs or GSW, I'll be mad.

This is the deepest draft that I've ever seen. So many players who can contribute right away still up for grabs...

I think the two guys tonight replace Ezili and Leonard. Don't see why Vonleh or Davis therefore need to be moved due to tonight's decisions.

I'm pretty sure Davis has no long term role on the blazers. So it's really Vinloh and Swanigan at Pf

The San Antonio Spurs will select Derrick White with the No. 29 pick, league source tells @TheVertical.

The GSW would have to buy a pick.

it is a good story, seems rather redundant since we just picked collins.

There better be some other player movement, otherwise i think Olshey bombed this one.

I like our big rotation. Nurk is soley a center. Collins and Noah can play the 4 or 5. Caleb will ride the pine all year unless injuries occur. I think we can maybe keep Davis. Meyers needs to go though I don't want him taking a second of Collins or Noah/Calebs mins.

don't forget Portland's tax issue and that Vonleh will be RFA next summer the same time as Nurkic is. The Swanigan selection could be very similar to trading Plumlee...dodging a free agency problem. I would not be surprised if Portland shops Vonleh right up till the trade deadline
