Rick Adelman

Post#1 » by Il_Devo » Sun Dec 20, 2009 5:11 pm

Rick Adelman teams win when they are undermanned, and when they have no all-star/superstar.

Why can't Nate McMillan teams win when they are undermanned, but DO have an all-star/superstar?

I hope KP sets his target on Adelman this summer... he would be PERFECT in a glorious return to Portland.

Anyone with me on this?

We should never have let Clyde let him go!

as was mentioned in a couple of other treads last week, some Rockets' fans are saying there's a little bit of friction between Adelman and Houston's GM. Those fans wouldn't be surprised if Adelman isn't re-signed or extended by the Rockets

I agree that he would be a great replacement coach for Nate. Rick has a great reputation amongst his former players, and he's definitely superior to Nate in X's & O's.

I think he'd also represent a logical evolution from 'sarge' to a coach that treats his players like men instead of controlling them so much.

I've never like how much time he invests in whining to officials though. Before the Jailblazers in the Whitsitt era, they were the CryBlazers in the Adelman era. Thanks bryan gumbel

I would love to get Adelman back. However, would Paul Allen want him back? Would Adelman WANT to come back and coach for Allen? It would be great to have him back, I just dont know how realistic it would be

You've got to remember there were other issues in addition to Clyde that got
Adelman fired. I think its more likely the team would turn to Terry Porter if they
decided to fire Nate but someone like Lorenzo Romar who currently is the UW
coach might be worth remembering for we all know he would have the complete
support of Roy.

The thing is I'm not even confident that this is Nate's last season in Portland. I wish it was!

It is not friction between Rick and the GM as much as it is Rick and the owner. The owner is psycho. Rick and him defiitely don't see eye to eye on most things. Next year is a team option year for Rick and it is highly doubtful (for many reasons) that the owner is going to offer him an extension. Without an extension Rick would be in a lame duck situation and Hou won't want that. That is why I think he will be let go after this year. There is only one other place Rick will coach after Hou and that would be Por. I think he will retire if he isn't coaching Por after he is done in Hou.

If there is any way we can get Rick back, do it and don't think twice. He's a considerably better coach than Nate is.

In terms of the crying, Adelman does his share but so does Jerry Sloan, Pops, and Larry Brown, three guys who are unquestionably in the discussion among the best coaches in the game. Even Phil Jackson, the king of Zen, chirps his share. Nate, on the other hand, virtually never does. I guess he thinks he frown is convincing enough or something :dontknow:

Nate will be locked up in a 6 year contract, duh.

I want Hubie Brown personally, but Adelman would be awesome
Thank you for all the memories BRoy. You were a class act and brought hope to an entire region for 5 years. You will be missed.

It's not BS. I'm not a Rockets insider. Let's just say I have some knowledge when it comes to Adelman. I'll leave it at that.

With due respect, why should we trust a ballboy err freshman who's credibility is unknown?

If that's your criteria for "validation" then I guess you shouldn't. Furthermore, I am not looking for validation or credibility. I was just passing on some info regarding Rick. Take it or leave it. I'm not trying to start anything with anyone.....just giving some information that you probably can't hear elsewhere.
