As for the SF of choice, I think the Kings need a heavy dose of veteran roleplayers and toughness. DMC is going into his third year with a full offseason of Clifford Ray tutoring, and after the all star break he was already 20-10 on roughly 46% shooting. The SF and PF positions should be filled by defensive minded roleplayers.

I say go after Kenyon Martin in free agency, he's really impressed me with his toughness on defense these playoffs. Offer him a deal nobody else will. Trade the pick for an Iggy package. Upgrading the PG position would be nice but IT is handling it well enough for now.

IT/Jimmer
Evans/Thornton
Iggy/Williams
Martin/Thompson
Cousins/Hayes

Good mix of shot creators and roleplayers there.

Is there any word on DeMarcus actually spending extensive time with Clifford Ray over the summer btw?

I mean I absolutely hope he breaths the same air as Clifford till next season starts - but I haven't seen a word on DeMarcus summer plans, what he plans to improve on, and with who.

I hope he obviously work on his no step vertical explosiveness, and refining his post game with legit moves from 3-9 feet.

Cruel_Ruin wrote:Honestly who gives a crap what Henson can do on the offensive end? With Thomas, Evans, and Cousins likely going to be the focal points of the offense (unless a trade happens to change that) in the starting lineup, there's no need to add another mediocre offensive player with a hunger for shot attempts. Henson's a Taj Gibson type, he's not going to be dribbling around and facilitating at the next level. A Gibson type might actually be a good fit. Hit open jumpers, cut off the ball, crash the offensive glass. I would prefer to trade down to get him if we do target him though.

Haven't we learned anything from the failed Landry and Hickson experiments? No more high usage bigs next to DMC with mediocre jumpers, it doesn't work.

That would hopefully be his role here, but he's still more talented and if he's ever in a position to play 35 mpg, that talent will come out, even in some negative ways perhaps. He's just a really good fit period and you could even run some offense through him up top as a facilitator which is a major bonus.

Don't mind the Martin idea, but you have just about the worst shooting time in the league with that lineup. A team doesn't need two or three players who's best asset is ball handling or breaking down defenses. Don't know how realistic a trade for Iggy would be anyway.

If we were to stay at #5 and Henson was "the guy" we should trade down. We could trade Salmons/#5 to Raptors for Calderon/#8 (this would address true PG) or we could trade Salmons/#5 to Pistons for Prince/#9 (address SF). Tyreke at SG, Prince at SF & Henson at PF would be a lot of length and potentially very good defensively. Then address other needs via FA.

Oohhhh that's a really good question. I actually really like Gallo`s game. he really reminds me of a young peja, and I really think he'd fit in well with the team. We could just draft Barnes, but there is no guarantee he'll ever be as good as Gallo right now. Its close because I like the potential of Barnes and beal but I think I have too say yes to this.
Sometimes you just have to look yourself in the mirror and say....Tyreke Evans.
That just happened.

I wouldn't. Gallo is an upgrade at the sf no doubt, but I'd rather take a chance on our pick or use it to go for someone else like J Smoove or Iggy. #5 for Iggy, then Tyreke and Thompson for J Smoove:

I'd trade #5 for Gallo easy. He's proven. I don't want to wait another 3-4 years just to see if a rookie can maybe contribute. I want this team to get to the playoffs before Cousins' contract is up.

A proven SF that gives us something we desperately need in shooting? I would do Gallo for #5 easily.

I'd consider it. It would depend on what else was on the table. I'd certainly prefer to get Lowry, or if possible, a defensive big.

5 for Gallo would be good value for sure, but fit, and a willingness to defer to Reke, Thornton, and Cousins are the questions.

Gallo defers by nature. I'd argue that's one of his problems. He should be an unstoppable player, but he's too passive.

I think he fits great. I just personally have other priorities.

Gallo has opportunities to handle the ball plenty though which gets him to the line quite a bit, and with the team here now bringing in even more ball handlers last year, somebody might find themselves woefully underused in some aspects where they can contribute. The reason I like Harrison Barnes for this team as a prospect because his weaknesses (ball handling/iso play) are really positives for a team like this because roles will be more defined.

Gallo is not worth the 5th pick. I'd do Gallo and Lawson for #5 and IT. But now way do I do Gallo for #5 straight up. No way Henson goes in the top 10 IMO. He has NO offensive game, none. Guys like Zeller, Sullinger, T Rob and possibly even Moultrie will all go ahead of Henson. I'd be fine with Barnes. I like his upside and he would be a nice compliment to Cousins.

The real problem is what do you do with Reke? You have a young big that needs to be surrounded by shooting and defense. Where does Reke fit into that? I don't see it.
