I think he has more to lose by lying than to gain.

The Maloofs are almost definitely out regardless of what happens.

But yeah, I'm keeping my hopes....steady.

Do you think he's going to return to life as a retired basketball star after his tenure as mayor?
Maybe not governor, but he does have a reputation to protect if he wants to do anything else, or even if he wants another term as mayor.

Maloofs are sitting behind Kobe at the Dr Buss remembrance. They look someone paranoid and a whole lot disinterested. Scumbags.

A King County judge Friday tossed out a lawsuit brought by longshore workers trying to stop construction of a new basketball and hockey arena in Sodo. http://seattletimes.com/html/localnews/ ... ngxml.html This isn't good.

Nah, that was expected. Pretty much all legal issues in this circumstance don't hold much weight except maybe the FROR from the minority owners of the Kings which is workable no doubt. This comes down to Sacramento and what they can do, always has, always will.

Must be nice to have an arena deal when they want to, and then not have one when they need to (the lawsuit was dismissed on the grounds that they technically don't have an arena deal in place).

ye lol that was kinda funny that having no arena was their main argument against that lawsuit

Kings' minority owner John Kehriotis is reportedly ready to announce plans for a $750 million deal to buy the Kings and finance a new arena in Sacramento. Fox 40 in Sacramento reports Kehriotis and his investor group already have $350 million banked and a commitment for the other $400 million.

Anybody else read this article? Minority owner, huh? Apparently this is a different group. According to this article there are two groups willing to keep them in Sacramento. Interesting. Thoughts?

I hope they don't fight each other for control of the first bid, therefore having the NBA go with Seattle because it's already an established group with an arena blueprint ready to go.

Seems sketchy to me. Isn't that the guy who was rumored to be in bed with the Seattle group?

Yea it smells real fishy. Maybe doing this to try cause an anti-subsidy group in Sac to rise up against KJ's offer in Hansen's cause and shake our foundations up a little bit.

If the ROFR stands tho and he is not shooting blanks, he might not really need the NBA or KJ to approve.

Not taking it seriously though, until proven otherwise.. seems to me much more like the former.

Here's another scource on the same subject. I didn't realize tax payer money wouldn't be involved. I wonder if Larry Ellison is joined by this group.

Monday night, a minority owner of the Sacramento Kings told a local TV station he and other investors are willing to invest three quarters of a billion dollars to buy the team and build a new arena without using taxpayer money.

Too good to be true, and usually things too good to be true are false.

I'm led to believe this is to split the unity in Sac and try shake the foundations of KJ's attempt, in the name of Seattle - Will gladly be corrected if those guys actually step up and walk the walk, but until then it looks and sounds too good to be true and really fishy.

I believe both sources are Seattle based. As a Kings fan, with all that has gone on these past few years, I'm also skeptical. Could all just be a bunch of propaganda. Interesting none the less, though.

I've always said and thought this will end like the Cleveland Browns-Baltimore Ravens situation - hopefully this guy's sources are on the money, cause really that seems like the most reasonable solution there is if they can't expansion right now.

Tim Montemayor ‏@TheMontyShow 38m

There is an effort to satisfy both cities in the #NBAKings saga: I am told there is a plan being talked about where #Seattle would ...

Tim Montemayor ‏@TheMontyShow 37m

...get an expansion team in 2014/2015 and most of the requirements for that process are already met through the current situation #NBAKings

Tim Montemayor ‏@TheMontyShow 35m

The #NBA has gone to great lengths to find a way to satisfy both situations without creating more "disfunction and animosity" in either city

Tim Montemayor ‏@TheMontyShow 34m

The lone sticking point is the #Seattle groups willingness to wait another year which I am told they have fought hard against #NBAKings

Tim Montemayor ‏@TheMontyShow 32m

I have also confirmed via two sources that David Stern has told #Seattle this is the only path that assures an #NBA return to the market

Tim Montemayor ‏@TheMontyShow 31m

Stern has made it clear he will not push or force any other club to relocate to #Seattle he feels the process is bad 4 all parties involved

Tim Montemayor ‏@TheMontyShow 29m

My source tells me "the ground made up by KJ is a miracle...it has been sensational to watch" #NBAKings

Tim Montemayor ‏@TheMontyShow 26m

If the #Seattle chooses to move ahead with the #NBAKings #Stern told them "it's would be tough to overcome Sacramento's obvious advantage"

Also guys, looking back at some of the depressing posts here - who would have thought we'd reach this situation?

So proud whichever way this ends man.

Ya seems like the logical decision to make for both sides, but not sure how reliable this Tim guy is. Never even heard of him.
