14 of the 18 players listed are under contract for 2014-15 already and won't be cut. The other 4 players include Sim Bhullar, Deonte Burton, Trey Johnson, and David Wear. Only one of them can make the team, but under NBA rules the last three training camp cuts can be assigned to Sacramento's D-League team, the Reno Bighorns.

Some notables.

Sim Bhullar 7'5 360

Sim by most peoples expectations is a project, probably will spend much of his time in D league, with massive potential in role player use if it works out.

Image

Omri Casspi 6'9 225

Omri signed dirt cheap, looking to revitalize his career, could see playing time as a stretch 4 or 3 behind Rudy. We were one of the few teams who probably wanted him, and likewise he will get some minutes here so is mutually beneficial on paper.

Image

Darren Collison 6'0 175

Collison is a veteran pg backup and now get his opportunity to see increased minutes. Most people believe his contract was an over pay. We rolled some dice with this one, albeit not an incredible amount of money investment. Should be interesting to see how our offense changes with him at the helm.

Image

Carl Landry 6'9 248

Back from injury, will Landry be able to see significant time on the court? Will his health hold up? This guy is vital in his role as a primary bench scoring option or possibly late game heroics. Can we turn this disaster around?

Image

Ray McCallum 6'3 190

Ray has been working hard and showed some signs of brilliance in Summer league. Is he on the way out the door? Now he seems to be buried behind Collison and newly acquired Sessions. For now he we will be a thrifty discounted contract laying in wait for his opportunity to shine. Collison and Sessions should not feel too comfortable with Ray's energy and defensive abilities lurking behind.

Image

Ben McLemore 6'5 195

Ben had a disastrous first season. Was probably statistically one of the worst performances for a high usage as far as mins SG in NBA history, and his D was atrocious. With new PG leadership and a season under his belt will we begin to see glimpses of his elite athleticism? Will his beautiful shot land?

Image

Eric Moreland 6'10 218

The Big fella Moreland is a small gamble to become a useful shot blocking and defensive presence in the future. Will he get enough opportunity to get on the floor? End up in the D league and get back to us next season? Let's hope it works out and we are not getting a Whiteside 2.0. Kid seems to have a good reputation.

Image

Ramon Sessions 6'3 190

Sessions signed a two year on the cheap. Really a bargain to come to us at that price. There is some concern what it means for Ray, but Sessions should see significant minutes off the bench. And personally I think he and Landry if he recovers lead a decent bench scoring duo.

Image

Nik Stauskas 6'6 205

Stauskas our draft pick at number 8. There was a rumor the Kings were considering moving up to 6 to land him. We will never know, and some people think we stretched a little getting him at 8. He is an elite shooting talent, can shoot it from off the dribble, spot up, out of the pick/roll. He was probably the best pick and roll player coming out of college, and he can finish at the rim. A good and willing passer.

We've heard his defense could be decent with work to terrible. Malone thinks he will be just fine. I think we may see him starting by the season start if not in preseason personally.

Image

Derrick Williams 6'8 240

No way are we going to offer Williams a contract at its rate next season, so he is pretty much an expiring. Williams is an athletic freak, but he showed little to no progress during summer league. Will he play well enough to trade? Will he show something everyone has been waiting for?

I think it's a safe guess who will probably make the cut of 15 if they keep that many.

Return to Sacramento Kings
