Also to touch on the Malone firing. The more I think about it, the more I understand why Vivek did it. I'm cool with it.

On the last cowbell kingdom podcast about malone's firing Jon Santiago believed Vivek doesn't favor Jackson, and believed Malone yo be the real coach of the team. It's kind of strange Vivek wasn't there for the meeting with Jackson if I read correctly, and PDA showed up casually late

It's also good timing to interview someone you secretly don't intend to hire, as no one has to specifically travel here and have their time wasted, if that is the case

Goodness. The voice of reason. I read this and it made me feel better after reading an earlier headline saying that the Kings had contacted Vinny Del Negro. I freaked! I mean why is he even involved in ANY conversation regarding coaching. I mean AT ALL!

That would suck Malone lost his job to the guy he coached under for years.

Various sources saying Jackson to coach Kings isn't true. Roll with the rumors fellas.

You have to read between the lines a little, but he speaks as if he has it in the bag. This and those Sirius comments. If he had no association to the job I doubt he would offer that much info. Personally I'm just waiting for the announcement

Adding to Kings2013 theory Karl is the coach( or Jackson), the delay of hiring could be a stroke of genius. PDA knows the players loved Malone and emotions in the locker room are fragile right now. Toss up Corbin as the sacrificial lamb while the players get over their hurt and anger for Malone's firing. Once the emotions disappear Karl can enter the picture and build relationships far easier than if he was brought on now.... if Karl is the coach, PDA is already thinking chemistry. This delay could turn out to be positive.

I think my belief that Karl is lined up took a small hit. Apparently he was on ESPN today talking about how Anthony Davis was his favorite NBA player and if he were to start a franchise he would go with AD.. While that may be his thoughts, and it may be popular opinion, does that really ingratiate yourself to big Cuz if you were already lined up with the job?

Him in NO would be nice. Their offense would be better. I don't know about SAC, I recall Denver when he coached them, used to be call "Enver" because he played no D.

Denver's D under Karl was inconsistent but certainly present. Iggy and Brewer combined to give them premium wing defense. Their pg defense was spotty especially when Miller was in, and McGee'S defense depended heavily on the phase of the moon. But I wouldn't call them bad defensively overall.

The issue I have with Karl is his personality. Will he mesh with Cousins? After thinking about it more I think it would be OK, but geez Karl is runs practices like a nazi general. He's a total drill sgt. That might not be a problem for Cousins though because he apparently liked Calipari who is the first coach I've seen that might be a bigger d-bag to his players than Karl is, haha. Oddly enough Westphal was a players coach and Cousins didn't get along with him. Westphals issues were different though. He prides himself on being the "smartest" guy in the room and anyone that challenges him he has a problem with and it will start effecting the way he uses them. He had a poor history with head strong players whereas Karl has a solid one.

Nice, now the key is whether or not it's gone unnoticed by the ones in command. It just seems like such a no brainer unless the history between all involved is negative, but I can't see that being the case considering the history of success there.

Maybe I'm being petty, but I don't like Karl saying during this Kings coaching search he'd pick AD to start a franchise with. Maybe he's just doing his job, but I'd like the new coach to appreciate Demarcus potential, his feelings, and the sensibilities of the organization/fans towards something like that. Understand also that IMO he should be trying to win over a franchise he apparently would like to be hired by. I understand though that I may be petty and he may be just doing his job and that most might not care anywhere near as much as me. Just took some of the wind out of my sails regarding him, as I want someone here in my mind 100% grateful for the opportunity, but I'm guessing the Kings FO could care less

Well, soon after his name was announced by the media the reports started to get out that he wanted Denver to trade for Demarcus a few years ago, I'm guessing when all the Westphal stuff went down so.... I'd say that speaks to his opinion of Demarcus.

No offense but I think you're indeed being extremely petty if that's your issue with him..

Nothing wrong at all with saying he would choose AD to start a franchise with, I don't see how that's a slate on DeMarcus at all tbh, as the majority of the people around with pick AD aswell over Cuz in the long term if things are as they are right now (Rookie contract, 3rd year player, 3 years younger).

Don't see how this is a slate at DeMarcus or the franchise. I think if anything George Karl has shown in a great great deal how much he'd love and appreciate coaching the Sacramento Kings, and done so publicly - which is not something we get to experience every day, especially not from a coach of his caliber.

Return to Sacramento Kings
