Re: 2010 NBA Draft Measurements
Yeah I saw that but look at THIS
DeMarcus Cousins
6'10.75" (6'9.5 w/o shoes)
292 pounds
7'5.75" wing span
9'5 standing reach
Is that some kind of mistake???? DeMarcus Cousins is freaking longer than Dwight Howard!!!
Dwight HOward
6'10.25 (6'9 w/o shoes)
240 pounds
7'4.5 wing span
9'3.5 standing reach
7'6 wing span and 9'5 standing reach? This guy could be a legitimate Center in the NBA and in a league where that position is so weak where Horford of the Hawks is arguably a top 5 Center, Cousins could be a beast. It is 100% up to him and how bad he wants it. Guy is freaking good enough to be the best player from this draft period.

Cousins measured out very well length wise, but he needs to lose some f'n weight.

Yep, if Cousins can get serious about his fitness, the guy will be an absolute monster.

Yeah that body fat stood out. But the measurable stood out even more because body weight is obviously a lot more controllable than length. His 9'5 reach is amazing. Sure there are plenty of busts with amazing wingspans and reaches, but notice most of those guys were 100% projects like DeAndre Jordan, Saer Sene, etc. At least DeMarcus Cousins has done something at least at the NCAA level. He was like the most productive player in the nation efficiency wise.
And he's a much better athlete than the only other notable guys on that list who wasn't a project and turned out to not be that much of an impact player in Brendan Haywood
And considering his production and athleticism it's absolutely mind boggling that he's longer than Dwight HOward and Greg Oden. Heck he has the same standing reach as Shaq!

Wow Cousins is 292 with 17% body fat.... He needs to watch out before he becomes
Eddy Curry

And to me if he doesn't, he may be the most disappointing draft prospects of the last decade considering all that upside
It's kind of like JaMarcus Russell. If you turn out to be a bust with that much physical tools, it's 100% because you have no work ethic whatsoever. Maybe with the NBA rookie contracts being set up the way they are, that will prevent that from happening to him.

Eddy Curry 201 pounds?

And to be fair to COusins a lot of it is based on your body type. Not everyone has the same lean cut muscle. Look at the body fat of Nick Collison and Chris Kaman. Cousins has that baby fat build to him. He's fine at his current size if he keeps up his conditioning. Conditioning is the key for him. Being actually on the court

I thought the leaner looking Monroe with 11.2 body fat was interesting too.

Re: 2010 NBA Draft Measurements
Some of the things that jumped out to me:
- James Anderson... OMG, those numbers can't be right.
- Jerome Jordan and Alabi are twins! Both are helped by excellent measurements.
- Cousins - tremendous length and just about 6'11. But no more triple cheeseburgers. Give them to...
- Sanders - who also helped himself with every measurement except he needs to get thicker.
- Monroe and Patterson - solid measurments except their standing reaches were less than expected.
- Aminu at 6'8.5 and 216 - a bit disappointing, but impressive wingspan
- Robinson - somewhat similarly disappointing - 6'7.75 and 213.
- Booker - like Aminu and Robinson - no more thoughts of ever playing PF - 6'7.5, 236.
- Aldrich - Somethings wrong, or he deserves a shoe contract. 6'9 in socks, 6'11.25 in shoes. Excellent length. If the socks # is wrong, he's fine.
Edit - They did get the numbers for Anderson wrong, and they have been corrected.

Well yeah, but he still needs to lose the weight.

Wearing 2+ inch thick shoes like Aldrich did is shady and it's an attempt to trick people. Very bad form, IMO.

Re: 2010 NBA Draft Measurements
OMG @ Lance Stephenson.
DX,
I know the guy is a 6'5 shooting guard who cannot shoot, but can someone please select this guy in the draft on effort and handle alone? He has a freakish body at 6'4.5- the same in weight as Damion James? And with less body fat at that. And I thought James had a chiseled physique. That's actually pretty scary. I would hate to go up against Lance driving to the basket in any league. Seems like the kid is putting the time in and at the very least deserves a flyer in the second round.

Kevin Love did the same thing.
Paul George at 6'9 is very impressive, he says he's a 2 guard as well. Needs to work on his handle and I see a very very good player in him.

Yeah and it was equally douchey for Love to do. It's just one of those things that really irritate me since the NBA only cares about listing their height in shoes and they always round up.
I concur about George.

I got blasted by 2 or 3 posters a couple months ago for saying Wall is at least an inch taller than Rose. Those guys might want to step up now.

Re: 2010 NBA Draft Measurements
Whether or not it is better is certainly questionable. It is simply different. Rose being thicker allows him to absorb more contact when going to the hoop.

I s'pose, but he's a MUCH better rebounder than Curry ever was.

You sure did. I still think the idea of being able to tell from a TV was absurd but you were right

He's taller but Rose is just as quick and stronger
