How much do the players have to lift in bench press test?

It's like 180 or 185, I think.

I'll second that. In a league that favors players with length, it actually hurts those very same guys when benching.

The bench press doesn't measure a basketball player's functional strength. Several years ago, my workout routine included 2 sets of 12 reps at 200 lbs. Some of the big men tested couldn't do 10 reps at 180 or 185 or whatever they use. And I had no delusions that I was anywhere near as strong as them.

Tall and lanky people have trouble with the bench press. There has to be a better test of tall guys strength.

How many reps did Durant do? Far fewer than JJ Hickson...
