Isaiah Austin is severely underrated prospect

Postby nhh90 on Mon Nov 12, 2012 4:03 pm

7 feet tall with a 7'3 wingspan. What makes him interesting is his ease of scoring. He completely dominated the lehigh game scoring 22 points in 17 minutes on 10 of 12 shooting with 2 for 4 at threes. He sprained his ankle. Why is his name not mentioned as the #1 draft pick?

He turns sideways, and you can't see him.

He is a boy though. Every one of these players are able to fill in their frame.

his body type is very similar to alexis ajinca's.
filling out to what degree depends on his frame. he's got narrow shoulders and beanpole legs. will he ever fill out enough to have the body strength and mass to hold his position? i kinda doubt that, so i think he'll be a finesse big, possibly someone like bargnani with less mobility.

Wide frame, low body fat. Something similar to anthony davis. I could see him gaining 20 pounds easily in the chest. He doesn't have durants body.

he doesnt have a wide frame though. he has narrow shoulders and long chicken legs. he's been trying to put on weight for yrs and has made very little headway. say he puts on 20 lbs, he'd still get pushed around like a ragdoll. at 7' his starting point is similar to john henson's. physically he reminds me of ajinca, but ajinca was more athletic.

davis' wide shoulders were evident when his hype first started. KD always had the athleticism to make up for his lack of bulk. his combination of coordination, agility and quickness is one of the best ever for a player 6'10 and up. KD has put on some bulk, but he still isn't as prolific as he should be in the post because he still gets pushed off the block. i think austin will be lucky to get to KD's weight and even if he does, i think he'd still be relegated to playing away from the paint and being a poor rebounder.
