Nik Stauskas

Post#1 » by Dr Positivity » Thu Jan 30, 2014 12:10 am

I'm not sure if we have a real thread for him. The more I look at his game the more I believe he has the most underrated upside in the draft. His tools attacking the basket are actually good. A good first step and nasty ballhandling skills should give him the potential to be a real driving player. In addition to his perimeter shooting and feel

Could this be a potential star?

i still don't think he's quick enough but he does have the threat of the shot so defenders have to play him tight and he does have a good handle. i'm more impressed with his ability to handle PnR than his driving ability in 1 on 1 situations.

star? i don't see it.

I don't know about "star", but after looking at him a few times I think he is a safer bet than McDermott to be an impact player at the next level. Better athlete. He'll be able to compete.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

Yeah, he's not a tweener - he fits his position. That's a fair comp because they're both so consistent (heading off the inevitable race comments).

I think with the work ethic he has shown to get himself into shape for this season, and addressing his areas of weakness in the off-season he has a super high floor, but do to his lack of serious burst his ceiling is a little lower than other guys. Right now he is on my short list of safest picks in the draft.

Big fan of his. Don't know if he's got star potential but he'll be around for while.

He's got some Jamal Crawford in him, the former Michigan alum.

See a little Brent Barry too.

He is definitely efficient enough to be a pro on a winning team. How well he does everything other than score will tell the tale

JJ Redick 2.0

Which isn't a bad thing.

I like his game and think he can play SG if Kyle Korver can. He looks quicker than Korver. Once again it will take the right system for a lot of these guys to make it big. In the right system he can be a starter but not a star.

Yep. He's got the complete offensive package. There's some Steph Curry to him.

klay has turned into a good defender. i don't foresee stauskas ever becoming average defensively.

After reading up on him, I would still rather have the Creighton dude.

But was he ever as good in pick and roll as Stauskas?

no, which is another difference b/t the 2. i think he has more in common with someone like belinelli than klay.
