If you'd care to group them as well that would be great. Looking forward to your thoughts. Thanks!

Well, some of them could end up playing SG but...

1. Marcus Smart
2. Delon Wright
3. Jahii Carson
4. Vasilije Micic
5. Elfrid Payton
6. Andrew Harrison
7. Nick Johnson
8. Jordan Clarkson
9. Shabazz Napier
10a. Semaj Christon
10b. Deonte Burton

I feel the next guys are clearly behind, Kendall Williams, Keith Appling, Russ Smith, DeAndre Kane, Justin Cobbs, Xavier Thames, Aaron Craft...

5. j.clarkson

This is taking out the PG/SG guys and the international prospects who are hard to get a read on. Guys left out include Marcus Smart (not really a PG IMO) Dante Exum (international, hard to judge), Vasilije Micic (big Euro guy, supposedly an excellent passer), Jordan Clarkson (scoring guard), Andrew Harrison, Kenan Sipahi (another big Euro), and Olivier Hanlan (scoring guard).

Smart, Exum and Ennis are really the only guys considered first round picks. The rest of them are considered 2nd rounders, mostly due to age, poor outside shooting, limited athleticism, or being a scorer and not a point guard.

Just since we're talking about PGs, I feel like Appling is a bit underrated right now. He's made significant strides in his jumpshooting (long a weakness) and his ability to run the offense. He's got enough athleticism to make it in the NBA, and has good scoring instincts. He plays defense too, although I would hardly expect him to be elite at that in the NBA.

i think payton has the potential to be a defensive specialist, maybe in the mold of patrick beverley, but i think he has a ways to go physically as well as with his shot, handle and decision making.
i wonder how many people have actually seen his team play. they're more successful vs their competition, but they play a lot like how the 6ers play. no defense, up and down, tons of possessions, clear it out and give payton the middle of the floor to attack with a head of steam. i think his numbers benefit greatly from their style of play.

I absolutely hate Tyler Ennis as a point guard.

Even NBA "pure point guards" should be dominant college scorers. Clutchness is not a valid player attribute when your are offensively poor; hitting end of game shot at ridiculous rates is simply luck. Clutch players are great offensive players with fundamentals, ie Jordan, Bird, Dirk, and most recently Irving. Composure is what Ennis has going for him, but a good 70% of the PG drafted eventually learn to control tempo after a few years in the league. His physical tools are also below average for a NBA point guard. We don't really have good pure point guards on the level of Paul, Rubio, and Wall.

There are a BIG lot of combo guards in this class. They are not even the water-bug quick slashing type like Lawson. My top 3 point guards. Don't know much about the rest.

Tyler Innis is not offensively poor. He just does what his team needs him to do to win. He was considered one of the best offensive point guards in the country coming out of High School. Rajon Rondo, Mark Jackson, Jason Kidd are great point guards who no one considered elite scorers in college.

Stop bringing up select examples of success. You named 4 successes. For every success, there are 10 failures.

You assess prospects based on historical trends, not historical exceptions.

Exum is a SG.

Not trying to call you out but if you list your no. 1 PG as Marcus Smart then Exum is also a PG

Exum is absolutely not a SG. Sure if the team needs him to be one ,that drafts him, he will be. If he was listed as 6'2 instead of 6'6 everyone would say hes a PG.

The reason he is looked at as top 4 potential is because of his ability to play PG at 6'6.

Hes MCW with a Derrick Rose First Step. However, MCW is a hell of alot better defender. Mcw is slightly better at passing.

He will be fine at PG because

1) He is just as fast as any PG not named Lawson, Wall, Rondo, Bledsoe, Westbrook.
2) Hes got at least 3 inches on almost everybody
3) His biggest strength is getting to the Rim and Creating for others with his Elite first step.

He can definitely play SG but he won't be as effective. Hopefully the Right team will draft him.

LaVine. Really Hope he's allowed to play both back court positions in the NBA.

Best PG in the NCAA is K. Anderson UCLA he is small by PG standards 6ft9 and he may rebound, score and block shots at a low rate for a PG.

No love for Wilbekin which I am perplexed by. I did a thread that showed his numbers are equivalent to Ennis. Same height and is a Senior who is one year older then freshman Ennis. I can understand putting a bunch of PGs ahead of him due to potential but not having him on a top 10 PGs is kind of crazy to me. I think he could be a real contributor for a team as a solid back up. In a Darren Collinson mold.
The hero Orlando deserves is out there somewhere, Dwight was not the one we needed. So we will hunt for him...
