Joel Embiid injured again

Post#1 » by kd 35 » Thu Jun 19, 2014 4:13 pm

One source told ESPN.com that Embiid "may have broken" his foot, but Tellem wouldn't speculate on the seriousness of the injury until he had heard from doctors. Tellem also said it was unlikely Embiid would be doing any more workouts before the draft, which is June 26.

How will this affect his draft stock?

I think he either goes 1st or 3rd. New Bucks owners get scared off

It depends on the severity of the injury, hopefully he does not need surgery. We'll find out more soon after diagnosis is revealed. A broken foot could lead to more injuries down to the road (i.e. Brook Lopez) so clearly there are big concerns.

Given that I think he's still top 5. I imagine a injured Embiid would push Exum ahead of him on most draft boards and Vonleh on a few as well. If worst case, he does have a fracture in his foot my 'big board' would be:

1. Wiggins 2. Exum 3. Parker 4. Embiid 5. Vonleh

Injuries at his age are a pretty big concern and could become chronic so it's hard to pass on other top talent available.

He may slip but if youre a team like the Jazz at 5 and youre in in Utah where you arent gonna get any big time free agent sand the drafts the only place you can get a franchise player you have to take a chance on Embiid imo

Keeps him out of Cleveland. big picture this could be good for him if he ends up in Boston, LA Lakers, or even Orlando instead.

He is going to do the Noel nose-dive. I love the kid, his ability is terrific, but he now deserves the injury-prone label. He has a very low chance of staying healthy, <25%, and health is priority number #1 for centers. His injury concerns are actually considerably worse than Noel's (back + knee + foot), so he is probably going to drop out of the top five.

Surgery on Friday so he could fall to 6. No way this is a smoke screen to avoid Cavs because it was their doctors that discovered the injury and he's getting surgery

I said it all along i would not draft Embiid #1. I can see him falling to 6 or 7. He rose too fast and too many teams have been burned by injured bigs lately. I hope he does work out in the NBA but #1 just too risky for him even before this latest injury.

unless we trade up for Barrett or trade down for PJ Washington

No smoke screen to go 3 so Cavs can trade down and still pick him.

As a sixers fan I doubt it will keep us from trading up to get him. IMO, we will trade cleveland the number 3 and something else for #1. I think Cleveland is in love with Embiid so they will trade us so that they don't have to reach. We get Wiggins and I hope someone good at 10 as well.

They only way you're trading up to 1 is by giving up the 10th pick as well. If you pick Wiggins at 1 he'll be your only lottery pick in all liklihood.

I would rather keep the 10 if that is the case. Draft Exum or Vonleh at 3 and Stauskas at 10.

Drafting Exum at three makes zero sense for Philly when they already have Carter-Williams whom they are very high on. Joel Embiid injury or not wont get past #3.

Yes he will because we don't need Embiid because we have Noel and they are very redundant. At least Vonleh is a PF that could fit with us. I see us drafting Vonleh at 3 if we don't move up or down.

Sounds good, do you have proof that this will happen?
