Where Joel Embiid will fall to

Post#1 » by baseballislife » Fri Jun 20, 2014 10:24 pm

Joel Embiid will fall to #8 to what ever team trades for that pick

my 2 guesses
Hawks using Schroeder and #15 or Suns using #14 and #18

Not sure I see the Suns risking their draft on a center with injury concerns the year after they took a center with injury concerns in the top 5.

I don't see Embiid falling past LA at 6. They have made risky picks before regarding bigs and done well, and unlike many other teams in the lottery, they can rebuild quickly even if Embiid busts.

I think his most logical destination is the 2nd Sixers pick, whether that's at #10 or they make a trade to try and secure him earlier

Lakers need someone who can come in right away and be productive
their going to try and win now this probably being Kobe last 2 years
Smart or Randle for the Lakers

and Embiid makes no sense for 76ers who have Noel

I think he goes 6 or 7 latest. BOS or LA will take the gamble.

I don't think he goes top 4 either, none of those teams will take risk of him not being able to play.

I could see 5 being his landing spot, not necessarily for the Jazz, but for a team trading up.

Who ever drafts Embiid knows there's a possibility he could be out for the year in order to get completely healthy.

If Philly doesn't decide to roll the dice and take Embiid at 3 then I don't see him possibly going until 6 to Boston. I can see Boston taking Embiid because they can use him in a trade to Minnesota for Love as Minnesota would love a piece like Embiid for their rebuilding back. Also take Embiid just in case they can't get Love and decide to just completely blow it up entirely and move Rondo this way their rebuilding process has a good first piece for the future.

I actually believe Philly is the team that will try and move up to get Embiid from 10.

I could see him going to Cleveland at #5.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

You guys pretty confident Cleveland will take Favors and #5 in exchange for #1? I'm iffy on the deal from both for Cleveland. I think I'd rather have Wiggins than Favors and whoever is at #5.

well, if they wanted Embiid before, this gives them the chance to get Embiid and have one hell of an insurance package in Favors. Seems like a can't lose situation for Cleveland to me.

Lakers or Celtics. This is right up both teams alley and the leagues to be honest.

0% chance he falls past the Lakers (who have a history with targeting big men). That said, I'd be shocked to see him fall that far.

Philly?

Hinkie and 76ers franchise doesn't seem like the kind of people who gives an F about medical risks. Embiid resting would just be a huge positive for 76ers run for another lottery next season.
There’s never been a time in history when we look back and say that the people who were censoring free speech were the good guys.

It has to be a team where the gm isnt pressured by the owner to try to win right away and where they have some dellusions of making the 8th seed next year

Philly fits that crtieria and makes sense but they love Wiggins..I think Orlando could take him their gm seems patient and relaizes hes rebuilding and not gonna contnend anyitme soon and it doenst sound like the Magic owner is putting any pressure on him to make an all out run for the 8th seed next year or anythign so he can afford to be patient with Embiid next year

To portland now he's perfect for us. Injury risk center, of course
LaMarcus for Heisman!!!

Roster:Lillard/Mathews/Batum*/LA/Lopez

*Its not pronounced with a !@#$ing s, he's french. It's Nico-la, not Nico-las.

I can't see any way both Boston and LA pass on him. Both teams had designs for a much better draft slot, and even with the incredible risk, they'll take the gamble on a ridiculous talent.
Now that's the difference between first and last place.

The New York Daily News is reporting that Utah Jazz are interested in Embiid.

Though Jazz GM Dennis Lindsey spoke today about "violent disagreements" about the draft and "ongoing discussions" about what the Jazz should do.

As a Sixers fan, I would be happy taking him at 3...that is, if both CLE and MIL are ready to pass on him.

Remember, Embiid did that workout for CLE - you know, the one where everyone was BLOWN AWAY and he was a LOCK at 1 - with this issue. This is NOT Bill Walton 35 years ago...medical awareness and technology being what it is today, there is still a VERY good chance is a STUD for years.

If Hinkie thinks Embiid is the man, I sure hope he pulls the trigger at 3 and takes him.

I don't think he falls past #4. The top tier guys (Wiggins, Parker, Embiid, Exum) are pretty far ahead of the rest of the class IMO

If Embiid falls to 8th, we're not trading the pick.

If he drops to 4, I hope my Magic take him. Dude has the potential to be the best center of his generation. I think it's worth the risk, especially since we do have another lottery pick. I'd like to see if we do pick him to flip Vuc and the 12th to move up. IMO there is no need for Vuc if you draft Embiid, Vuc is no slouch hell he might be close to top 5 centers in the league, but Embiid is Vuc on steroids. The 12th and Vuc has to be mighty attractive to anyone in the 5-8 range.

But I don't know. Literally I have no clue how this draft is going shake up. This is going be one entertaining draft and I am just happy the Magic will probably be big players.
The hero Orlando deserves is out there somewhere, Dwight was not the one we needed. So we will hunt for him...
