I had the Lakers taking Stanley Johnson originally, but that was before I switched the Philly pick from Mudiay to Porzingis. I just see Philly continuing to net assets, especially ones that can develop overseas, and continue the tank until that sure-fire franchise talent presents itself in either Draft/Trade/Free Agency. I can also see Philly using this pick to take Mario Hezonja, who is going to push Top 5 status after workouts. With his talent and ties to the 6ers Saric in Croatia, it makes perfect sense.
I love Stanley Johnson and can see him going as high as 2 in this draft (depending on the team selecting). But with the Curry's, Lillard's, CP3's, Westbrook's and Parker's in the West...getting someone who can potentially impact your franchise in similar fashion while having the defensive potential to limit those other impact players can go a long way in LA.
BTW...mods feel free to move this into the Mock Draft sub-section. Didn't mean to post this thread in here.

I was going to comment that we would probably go Mudiay there. But, I have a feeling (like you) that Mario is going to rise after his workouts.
I know Hinkie was just over there to watch when Porzingis and Mario played each other.

Re: swisscheeseD's Official 2015 Mock Draft
Porzingis 3rd overall? That would be rather surprising. I think Hezonja is probably the second best prospect in the draft, even if that is a rare opinion by the time the actual draft comes through, I would not expect Porzingis to be ranked above Hezonja in terms of stashing talent (though, isn't Hezonja expected to play in the NBA next season)?
I don't think Philly is going to go out of there way to stash assets anymore, as they already have a very nice young core with Embiid and Saric coming to town sooner or later. I don't think they necessarily took Noel and Embiid just because they were injured and that would ensure they would bottom out the next year, but because they thought they were BPA (they were both the highest rated prospects in their respective drafts).

Re: swisscheeseD's Official 2015 Mock Draft
There is a mock draft subforum, so you need to post this there and not in the NBA Draft thread. Porzingas is (IMO) too high, but the rest looks great.

I like the mock (especially the laker picks) however, with the recent play of D'Angelo Russell I think he may be the first guard off the board but It will definitely be between he and mudiay.

Slightly disagree, I don't think the Saric pick was an intentional stash. Saric was the best player left, if Hinkie drafts Hezonja it will be because he was the best player left, not because he is staying in Europe aka stash pick

I'm very high on D'Angelo Russell. As a Knicks fan, I'm even considering taking him #1. Originally, I had Russell going 4th to the Lakers, but wasn't sure how it would be received.
I was actually beginning to work on an updated mock last night to reflect the current standings...I'll probably have something up again tonight or tomorrow.

I feel confident that there is absolutely no team in the NBA that would select Mario Hezonja in the top 5 of this draft. He's not a better prospect than Okafor, Towns, Mudiay, Russell or Johnson.

I personally would draft Hezonja over Johnson, and compared to Mudiay it would be a push.
