lack of vertical athleticism is his biggest flaw. If he was a little bouncier he would be a candidate for 1st overall.

Tatum is a poor defender?
How do you like his fit on the Suns?

Not a great fit but not a horrible one either, it's just meh. You could be looking at a great scoring combo though with Booker and Tatum. Just don't think Bledsoe is the PG to tie those two together.

Would you go for someone else at 4 if you're the Suns?

This isn't a thing anymore. Don't people realize that? Nobody is looking for these types of players.
Kawhi?
He's one of the best 3pt shooters in the league. So no.

IMO, Tatum's not a bad fit, but he's not an ideal one, either.
If you like Warren and you're keen to move Bledsoe, Fox makes a tonne of sense. If you're going to go SF, Jackson makes a lot of sense as a swiss-army knife guy and defender, and you'll have lots of shooters around him.
Tatum is a great all around player and will add firepower, but I feel a volume scorer like him isn't the perfect fit next to Booker. You could also argue that he might eventually be a PF and in that case there's a bit of crossover between someone like him and Chriss or even Bender.
I wouldn't consider anyone else for the Suns outside of those 3, though. Unless Ball drops, which feels unlikely but I wouldn't completely rule out. He'd be a nice fit and might usher in a new era of exciting fast paced Suns offense.

Someone said Tatum will be a very good mid/elbow scorer in the NBA. You said nobody is looking for these types of players. Kawhi is that type of player. Yes, he has additionally become a good three point shooter (not one of the best - last season was an outlier. Mid to upper 30s every other season of his career, including this one) but the mid-range is a large part of his game. So yes. It's gotta be extremely rare for any college freshman in the last 15 years to shoot 85% from the line who went onto the NBA and didn't become a good three point shooter. Tatum will very likely be a ~38% 3pt shooter like Kawhi.

Chad Ford was on Phoenix radio yesterday and called him a "pathetic defender" which I thought was harsh. From the times I saw him play he was at least putting forth the effort. He also seemed like a willing passer. Definitely not a 'great' passer but he shares it more than the ISO-stereotype suggests. Makes me think he's coachable.

He better be a good 3pt shooter, because like I said nobody is looking for a great mid-range jump shooter. Except Dallas when they signed Harrison Barnes.

I think if there were actual mid-range jump shooters in the league, we might actually see teams use them, but since no one is ever really good at pulling up from mid-range after penetration, then we just don't see it. It's a skill that has been overlooked imo.

Duke4life831 wrote:I think people are worried about foot speed. Either than that I don't see why he wouldn't be a good defender. He was by far Duke's best defender last year and showed a ton of versatility. I'm not saying I think he's going to be a great defender from day 1, but in a couple years I think he's going to be known as a two way player. The dude is tall, long and has good fundamentals and IQ on defense. And if you're worried about foot speed, just watch Joe Ingles defend guards out on the perimeter.
