PF and PF/C's that can contribute sooner rather than later?

Post#1 » by Blazinaway » Sat Apr 22, 2017 3:36 pm

There are a lot of PF and PF/C types in this draft, which ones do you think are the guys that can come in and be solid rotational players relatively soon as opposed to being guys that will likely take at least 2-3 yrs to develop?

DJ Wilson, Caleb Swanigan, Tyler Lydon, Chris Boucher, Jordan Bell, Isaiah Hicks, Michael Young, Jonathan Isaac, Alec Peters, Zach Collins, Alpha Kaba, Jonathan Motley, Eric Mika, Thomas Welsh, Anzejs Paseniks, Lauri Markkanen and Harry Giles (I think he can fill a role).

It really depends on opportunity and surroundings, but I think if the stars align for any of these guys they'll get minutes and be productive right away.

Swanigan is my choice. I think he's underrated around these parts.

Jordan Bell is the guy I think will contribute right away. Obviously he won't be the best player available in that position but he appears to be more ready for the league than anyone else in his position.

Thanks, you just named every big in this draft. Very helpful.
I was right about 3 point shooting. I expect to be right about Tacko Fall. Some coach will figure out how to use Tacko Fall. This movement towards undersized centers will sweep ng back. Back to the basket scorers will return to the NBA.

I think Markkanen will be able to have an impact right away but I don't know how much better he will get as a player.

From Portland to Reno to Vegas to LA to SLC and on to HotLanta. Winning at life. Too Blessed to be Stressed

I feel like Pasecniks has a chance to be solid in the P&R right off the bat.

I like Cameron Oliver a lot.

Athletic, solid strength, great shot blocker, good finisher at the rim, 3pt shooter and defensive rebounder. Only 20.8 years old currently.

Biggest knock is his height at 6'8, but with with his long arms, athleticism, shot blocking, strength and defensive rebounding he should do fine against most PF's, plus him being a floor spacer will allow the play PF in any offensive system.

Don't know why he's projected to go late 2nd, but am glad he's being slept on, hope Rockets draft him.

Sasha Vezenkov. He could easily this season have played a role in an NBA team like Bertans has in San Antonio, or Teletovic has in Milwaukee.

I think Swanigan, Motley, Pasecniks, Markennen, as well as maybe Lessort and Bell are the ones that spring to mind.

Tempted to say Rabb as well but I think physicall he's not ready yet.

Motley, Isaac, Markkanen, and either Collins are the only guys that I think will have a positive BPM in their first year, and then probably just barely.

If Markkanen is used properly I could see him having a very good OBPM right away. Not so sure about DBPM tho lol.

Robert Williams was the only one I actually have watched that I thought could be a good enough day 1 defender to really merit PT on a halfway decent team. He got some bad advice not coming out.

I think that Zach Collins and Jonathan Isaac are the only reasonable candidates, mainly because of their defense and low usage roles. It takes years for bigs to become a plus on either end, John Collins and Lauri Markkanen were even poor defenders in college let alone in their rookie year.

I was surprised to find out Swanigan led all division one schools in total rebounds last season. He was also 2nd in rebounds per game. I hope he is available in the 2nd round where the Celtics pick because he would be perfect for them. It is unlikely though.
