all i can say is this (from my perspective only)

amazing.. Teams like San Antonio Spurs and Cibona Zagreb made my next 12 months+ soo sweet in such a short period of time.. and if there is one, then it feels like i am in basketball heaven right now..

you know the Spurs story so i won't be repeating that now.. well.. as for Cibona who suffered a halfcourt 3 loss in the final after hitting a 3 before that for the lead in the final seconds of the ABA finals couple of years ago.. now without any money players or coaching staff etc, they were able to win it all this year against all odds with a young wunderkind named Dario Saric being the finals MVP ...

now, i am just grinning like an idiot these days.. i couldn't be more happier for these two teams and their players fans..

Congratulations to all of you here though and greetings from Bosnia and Hercegovina but cause of some wars in the recent past living in Austria now.. It was/is a very special season

Seis, next season!

Congrats Spurs! Best team in the NBA by far. My favorite team to root for outside the Raps!

Good Lord Patty had a bit too much to drink before that speech.

Raptor fan here but just wanted to say that Kawhi Leonard has become one of my favourite players in the whole league which previously also included Duncan Ginobili Parker lol. It was beautiful watching the Spurs play some of the best (if not the best) basketball I've ever witnessed. Congrats SA fans.

question: i keep hearing that spur fans were mocking heat fans with the "seen nation army" chant. But wasnt it spurs fans who started that chant first and then the heat fans adopted it as their own in last years finals?

I know I'm late but congrats. The offense was a work of art. And watching the highlights Diaw was the unsung hero. Most of the offense I saw was initiated by him. Spurs was the definition of team defensively and especially offensively.

I think history will show that this really was one of the more dominating title runs in recent memory. Haters will point to the fact that Dallas as the 8 seed took us to 7 games but that doesn't really tell the whole story. We won 13 games by 15+ points. We destroyed Miami and broke up The Heatles, changing the entire course of the NBA for the next decade.

Its pretty interesting how the entire landscape of the league changed because of what happened with us.

I was thinking about if Ray Allen misses that shot in Game 6. We win that title. The domino effect is that we switch places with the Heat and they have the extra motivation to win this year's title while we might not have even made it back to the finals. Then the Heat are all giddy about winning this year's title and maybe James stays. Who knows if Manu is still around for 2015 if we won the 2013 title and not 2014? Its really amazing how different things might be today.

I'm not sure extra motivation would have solved Wade breaking down or much of anything else wrong with the Heat. If anything, if Spurs weren't playing with the intensity they did this year/playoffs, they would have been more susceptible to losing to a West team (Thunder, Mavs, etc).

That said, yeah, Spurs winning the way they did against the Heat this year did wonders for ending expectations that the Heat would be serious contenders. They would still have had a puncher's chance (just needing to slip by Chicago and get lucky in the Finals), but Cleveland simply had more to offer (more money, more ability to contend, whatever warm fuzzies that come from returning to the Cavs).
