SonicsRising joines SB Nation

Post#1 » by Det the Threat » Mon Apr 1, 2013 11:37 am

As of today, the SonicsRising blog has joined SB Nation and will now join all the other sports blogs on this great side.

Even though it doesn't mean a thing for the April 19th vote, it's still nice to see something Sonics related being established on a national media platform.

Speaking of SB Nation, I'm an advocate of leaving Kings' fans alone. I'm never engaged them on their own turf or Twitter; other than telling a couple obvious trolls not to troll over here I have no beef with them. I place as much blame on them as I placed on Sonics fans when we were in a similar situation. That said, things like this make it difficult to empathize with them in the slightest, and I think my empathy is exhausted:

This fight is almost at its conclusion. And because of that, the gloves are off. Much talk has been happening on either side of the internet lately, much of it positive interaction between fanbases. As much as I love to see that, I do not think this should be a priority in any way. We need to discredit Seattle. We need to discredit their fans. We need to discredit their arena plan. We need to discredit their efforts.

That sort of flame fanning rhetoric doesn't do a damn bit of good to advance their cause. Discredit the fans? What in the almighty **** does that do for anybody? David Stern will keep the Kings in Sacramento because some Sacramento fan told him that Brian Robinson stole a piece of candy when he was five years old? *

It's an naked appeal to unmitigated emotion. Between Carmichael Dave's bi-polar pitches and swoons and Aaron Bruski's Fox News-like drum beating of sticking to poorly informed talking points, I can certainly say I'm glad we have the steady hand(s) of Hansen/Ballmer/Constantine/McGinn in charge because too many players on the Sacramento side seem on the brink of becoming unhinged at any given moment.

*This is purely hypothetical. I have no evidence proving or disproving the idea that Brian Robinson took a piece of candy without the permission of the candy's rightful owner.

This is exactly what the NBA and David Stern wants... they want to pit fans against fans and communities against communities. They do not have the same anti-trust exceptions that MLB has. If the owners vote against this move to Seattle the Maloofs will file an anti trust lawsuit which is very bad for the NBA because they'd win.

The thing is... the NBA runs on a socialist system and the market is clamped down. The Maloofs ran the franchise into the ground and yet they still have cities all over the USA and buyers begging to throw money at them... That is very wrong... and the only distraction they have is this battle between these two cities over teams they both should have.
I like my prospects the same way I like my women... foreign- pickIBL
