Freshen Up the Logo?

Post#1 » by Klomp » Tue Jan 22, 2013 7:32 am

First of all, just wanted to congratulate Seattle fans, it looks like you'll finally get your team.

I know you are keeping the same name and colors, but do you think there will be consideration for a freshened up logo/jerseys?

The image I want them to go with is the old one:

This logo is still extremely popular...clothing with this logo sells well in Seattle [we actually sold more NBA apparel than the Nets did in their last year in NJ], and I've not seen anything with the other logos for sale unless it was a clear out item.

Well, in fairness, we took Mike Pence off their hands. Taking back Mahinmi is the least they can do.

Was the latest one not liked? I thought it was a nice update to the pre-95ers.

Yeah I wanna see fresh logo/jerseys for sure. It's a new era in Seattle so the Sonics should use the existing yellow/green colour scheme and create something new.

Yep gotta agree with this as well. My last Sonics tee has this logo on it and I've worn it a lot. I think a bit of nostaglia in teh first year or two would be great IMO.

I'm with Sweezo.

I love that logo and we'll need something people remember fondly of(the teams of that era) as it helps building excitement.

Though, we could add a third jersey with a different look.

Here's a little history.

Image

I like the one from 1975 too. That's the logo when the Sonics won a championship. That is the logo the Sonincs are most remembered by.

I actually dated a girl who's dad worked for Ackerley and he created one of the logo's for the Sonics. I think it was the 1971 logo but I'm not sure. Easily the best dad out of all my ex's. He had season tickets, I was living in Bellingham at the time, so we only went to one game but it was against Chris Webber and the Golden State Warriors.

F''n F the last logo that Schultz came up with we need to torch everything that dude touched.

However I'd really dig it if they had an alternate jersey like this one. But in white or green.

I don't know about anyone else but I didn't like it.

I think people liked it well enough. Personally I really didn't care for the '95 logo with the Needle on it [and those red alt. uniforms that came with it], and the most recent logo was at least a nod to the classic logo. But as wiff pointed out...the most recently logo is from the Schultz era, which had its moments but it sort of ended poorly.

I think the old logo looks pretty solid on the New Era hats at are out now [which I've tried linking to but it's being a pill]

How about incorporating something from Kings logo?

For example, I know the cut and paste looks bad but, maybe use the swords from the Kings logo, change the colors from purple and grey to Green and Yellow.

Can someone make it look better, more proportionate.

My cousin lives in Vancouver, and he's so stoked to have a team "nearby". Any chance the Sonics play 1 home game a year in Vancouver, sort of like the Buffalo Bills did in Toronto.

How about we just go 100% Sonics?

And I'd suggest that if your cousin wants to see a Sonics game he braves the border.

Pretty close...I think the ones w/ the logo and no writing look the best myself. Maybe they could combine the old writing with a new script that looks a little better?

Would probably come across as a jab at Kings' fans. Also, it kinda looks like someone is stabbing the entire City of Seattle!

Personally, I am fine with a game or two in Vancouver. The bigger the fanbase the better. And as a Sonics fan, I think it would be awesome to zip up to Vancouver on a Saturday and catch a Sonics game in Vancouver.

Skyline logo all the way...the logo we had when the team moved was nice, but all it does is remind me of Howard Schultz.

A little hostile don't you think? It was just a suggestion by the guy...and seeing as how you're not from Seattle, you could understand how it would be fun to see your favorite team play in your hometown.

Seriously? Hostile?

I guess I should have said yes lets just keep all the stuff Kings but change the colors?

And that I think the Sonics should play 5 games a year in another country?

I was just being honest, Hansen is going to make it 100% Sonics. And considering how badly people are wanting the Sonics back I don't see them playing any games in Vancover so I suggested his cousin braves the border to come to a game.
